I like going to truck just for the hell of it. I'm not good at finishing the twister as I roll up quite a bit in weight but i just like to see how long i can hold truck and fight for the twister.

if im on the back im usually looking at twisters and spiderweb. i really just like to let them make the decision. turtle up n im swimming, table top n its chevy. tripod n its pimp angle. just depends on what the guys thinking. :)
Quality thread. I had no idea how few are saying RNC.
Eddie made it really clear to me when he talked about the truck being the perpendicular back control, and hooks in being parallel back control.
There really are an astounding erray of various subs starting in the truck. This is what makes it a joy to attempt to master.
It seems like a lot of high level grapplers just do not know how to escape or defend from there, so it makes it all the more advantageous.
To that end you cant really argue against it. Thing is when you introduce GNP into the equation the parallel half of back control goes up in stock a shit lot. Whereas the truck doesnt. I have gone to the truck in MMA sparring but dont know of a spot where you can land the sort of unbridled gnp you can if you flatten your opponent out with hooks in. Its an incredible shortcut to the end of a fight, simple.
So for me, as much fun as I'm having exploring the truck and all the twister options I prefer transitioning to them from lesser positions of dominance than actual back control.
Short answer: The bodylock with the Dan Severn is really high percentage in both nogi as well as MMA if youre not in a good enough spot to land fight finishing GNP.
