Gi players taking 5 minutes to tie their belt, before they continue matches.

As long as the belt's tied its game IME. I've started wearing odd colored gis to compete in GQ and NAGA, because then you don't have to wear the comp belt. I mean, the "traditionalists" get all upset for whatever reason that your gi is green/gray/purple/whatever and supposedly it puts a bullseye on you. (but your opponent is already there to submit you, so not much of a bullseye)

I would say 95% of the time, the guy takes extra long is cause he wants to rethink his game, or get some energy back. This should be heavily penalized

and yeah... whats with two belts??? total disadvantage for one guy, it just adds to grips! lol

Hey guys here's a solution to this madness. Someone needs to come up with a gi that can't be opened, and the belt can't be undone. It shares all the physical characteristics of the gi and belts(lapels etc) but it's one solid piece.
There will be no untying belts or opening jackets... It'll be impossible.

Or, option 2:
In chess, each person is given an even amount of time to make all their moves or checkmate their opponent.
Lets say at most, in jits, you're given 1 minute to tie belts, for the entire match. Should you choose to tie your belt, the clock is ticking. If you go over you lose.

Rick nailed it. And the girls have to do gi and their hair.

I'm with the untieable belt. If the jacket comes out fuckit and keep rollin. One of my favorite parts of gi is loopin the jacket around limbs for traps.

Second belt: Dumbest shit ever IMO, even in Judo tournaments we used a red cord which they double knotted so it wouldn't come undone, this was if someone was not already wearing a blue Gi. But at State and national level Judo it's required to have both colors.

a blue and a white gi should be mandatory in my opinion, wearing two belts is ridiculous.

I can fully see where you are coming from on that angle Rick, personally... I like to think that I take the "Gentleman's Approach" to such things, however I can definitely see someone using it as a plan to think of a way out of a bad spot... especially at the higher levels.
