My fav is when you have someone's back. It's fun because they're most often so worried about the choke.
Edit: starting when you have someones back, but eventually you're in spiderweb.

All of my submissions in comp have been by armbar. It's usually a basic deep hook using a kimura grip for control from high mount. I've been switching to s-mount before going to spider web lately too. I like to break using an xbreak so I easily have the triangle as a second option once I get the first leg through.
I also like to work for the back widow when I have the back. I don't find myself there often but when I choke isn't working, I get the deep hook and go for that.
Lately I've been hitting a swim move off of a failed head and arm guillotine (same side), and then I use the basketball to get the armbar from spiderweb. The basketball is worse than the douchebag by a far margin in my opinion Lol. Not a pleasant experience for the other guy.
this needs a video^^
I was going to say the same thing, Rivello.
I like all the deep-hook transitions and have been using the deep hook stuff for years. Ill say the swim move is my fav, as ive been landing it longer than any current arm-bar I still use. Surprisingly, the latest "deep-hook" for me to develop was the back widow.
Im loving Muddy Waters and that style of armbar. Muddy Waters is very popular at the moment, rightfully so, its a great path and the armbar from there is superb. Barncat has multiple ways he gets the muddy waters style of armbar, where the other arm is zombie and trapped. He's not only taking multiple paths to get it from RG, he's got entries from other positions as well. Ive been trying to practice a couple of these entries as I believe it is the most controlled and undefendable type of armbar. Right now though the swim move is still my ish.
I like when I lock up a kimura and my opponent defends and instead of committing to the kimura I do a spinning armbar. I either already stepped over their head during the kimura attempt or I do it fast when I go for the spinning armbar transition because they think the step over is coming anyways for the kimura attempt. I usually like going spiderweb, but for this particular transition I just spin my shin into the ribs with my hips really low and when I get around for the armbar, I use a "homie handshake" to control the direction of their wrist and make sure my knees are level so I get a good pinch.
The homie handshake is like when you do that friend handshake with your fingers around the wrist, but interlocking thumbs. It's legal in competition, just not around the fingers, which is why I homie handshake lol. The other arm is my deep hook and combined with the wrist/base of hand control it's finished by that point usually.
My current fave is turning Kimuras into Armbars.
