Yes this is a “knee reap” according to IBJJF. Then again, so is the other position Brent smith was sharing earlier which didn’t affect the knee at all. Knee reaping was legal here AS WAS HEEL HOOKS if I wanted to do one.
But despite that, when I talked to him afterword, he ONLY FELT IT IN HIS ANCLE. The “knee reap” really shouldn’t even be called that because the move is actually more about taking the hips out of play than it is about directly effecting the knee…. That’s IBJJF stuff.
I also feel like “IBJJF style” leg locks are “wrong” and I prefer to simply not do them in that rule set rather than devolve my grappling game. Just my opinion…
