Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this. I'm taking notes as I'm typing this. Yes, Cora has never had any judo or wrestling experience other than the ones incorporate in her Jiu Jitsu class. She's able to defend against those boys in her gym, but the kids who she will face at Battle 4 the Ages will be top level kids in BJJ and are multiple time champion in their states. (well so says their bios anyways). So from the notes I gather from yall so far, is either get to their neck first or fight them on using angles (flying kung fu, carni, omoplata) which throw their power away from her. Will keep yall update on how that is coming along. Her next test before Battle 4 the Ages is Naga. Let see how she does at Naga and will take it from there.
Not a wrestler, but super heavy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ6kYL72UiA
This is a moot point. GSP never wrestled a day in his life, he has victories over several All-Americans and even National Champions. Yeah it's GSP, yeah its not always the case and uncommon, but if you put in the reps, listen to your coaches and drill correctly, a 3 month novice can perform pretty well against a seasoned wrestler. The extra things like leg rides and scrambling will come with time, if they focus on proper takedown technique and defense, it really goes a long way.
Plus, this next tournament shouldn't be the goal. If you always focus on just winning the next challenge with your strengths, your weaknesses are never addressed.
How do you beat wrestlers?
Cora already knows how, rubber guard. Just keep doing what you're doing Cora, you just need to get better and stronger :)
