Nice gym, yo!
What was the low down on Coringao?
Just saw a thread on the underground (a place that is tough to take at times, but when things like the thread in question happen its a fun time) where some fellow who was lying about being a black belt got exposed, and brutally.
In this guy's case, I am sure he is way over-resenting his level of knowledge or skills.
In general though, a few good rules to keep in mind when curious about a fellow being "legit", if he claims some level of ranks of note (I would say purple belt or shirt, or higher) I would look for the one thing every BB I know has, a picture of them being awarded this rank, or direct contact info of the guy who awarded this rank.
Another thing I would look for, is if the instructor at a place isnt grappling the students consistently, its a red flag.
And lastly, a lie is a lie. What I mean by this, is if a fellow is of a lesser rank, says he is that rank, and offers to teach with all his qualifications on the table, two thumbs up. "Official" rank is certainly not an end all be all, and there are plenty of legit guys who lack it, but they N E V E R lie and say they are more ranked than they really are, IME. Any lie about qualifications is, in my experience a preview of things to come with regard to finding alot of stories later.
All that said, I ask to the OP, entertain us a bit with more stories about this guy, I am in the mood for em after the Torches and villages scene from the UG.
I was wondering about that Coringao thing to... I guess I missed something. All of a sudden he was a ghost on this site. He had made me his friend and that's gone to. Its like there was never any trace of him........ Somebody fill us in , whats the deal ?
As far as the guy this thread was started about. I met him last week at Naga Conn. He was running the clock for my ring. He saw my 10th planet colors and wanted to know who i trained with. He said he was a huge fan of the system. He said all he knew of it was from books and dvd's. Said the local 10th planet instructor hated his guts, so training at the local school wasn't possible. ( I guess that was you John.lol) Just thoght you should know he never bad mouthed you or tried to come across as some top of the food chain jiu jitsu guy, At least not to me. Like I said I only talked to him for a couple min. I'm sure you have reasons for how you feel.

this is what everyone is talking about. coringao is representing himself as a brown belt under eddie bravo and currently reppin 10th planet. He was exposed by neale hoerle for stealing another guys move and renaming it as his own. kevin and john then repetitively asked for proof of his creditials as to his bjj bb he also claims to hold. he just kind of faded away. I've kept him on my friendslist to keep an eye on him to see how he progresses. Master Eddie may want to seek legal action if he continues this course of action.
I love 10th planet and am making every effort to learn all I can with the limited resources that everyone else is experiencing and I teach 10th planet at my school, but my students know of my rank and we are learning together to hopefully be ranked and affiliated with the 10th planet system properly. thats why I have been working with neale, kevin, and talking with chris about doing seminars throughout the year. And hopefully I can get jon helton and john roderick and all of the east coast guys down over the next year, to learn all I can and to achieve ranking in 10th planet properly.
