the gi allows for more moves and techniques, thus it is more technical than no gi
You cant grab someone else's kneebrace, but most comps you can grab your own. That along with the long pants for friction, the only thing missing is the collar and sleeves, and lots of folks wear long sleeves too, the collar is only a defensive liability anyway and not so useful for offence. So I get surprised at times at how many offensive gi tools "no-gi" people use for no-gi.
I was joking when I said to grab the knee brace. Most no-gi clothing is tight so that you can't grab hold of it. I never grab clothing full stop, and immediately tell my opponent the same if he grabs my shorts or anything else. And yanking on the rash guard sleeves is just wrong!
