It's the system that's broken, not the people. Borders are just arbitrary lines drawn on the ground... The Earth wasn't formed with political and economic lines scratched into the dirt.

My folks were immigrants from Germany, and we spoke German when I was a kid. My dad's first language was German, and everyone in my family but my mom and I are fluent German speakers. They still speak German heavily in his hometown, which is Fredericksburg, TX. Are you as threatened by the German language as you are Spanish? They taught it in public schools there during most of the 20th century. I have a feeling, though, that you wouldn't apply the same standards there, since they aren't

I used to be a roofer, and the price paid to roofers went down drastically after there was a huge influx of Mexican immigrants into Texas. But I would never hold that against the people themselves, because I realize that it isn't their fault. It's the product of a system designed to keep people apart socially and economically, for the benefit of a few fat cats who profit off the backs of the working class.

I would respect you more if you just admitted to being racist, instead of masking it in the immigration issue.

Ok, so I agree with English being taught, spoken, and printed here. However, I've been homeless more times than I can count, ate from trashcans, slept on walmart benches, and collected cans to feed my son. Now, I've already served my countey and done my time. All I'm guaranteed is first in line at the unemployment office. You lost a high paying job to a "mesican"? Blame the greedy American contractor who tried to save a dime. As far as no other countries allow illegals to cross borders, explain how I've freely traveled into Canada, Mexico, Pakistan, and a host of others? I'm certainly glad your grandfather came legally, that's great. If you could just explain that to my friend who is only 19. He wanted to do it legally also. However, on the train from Honduras to Mexico, his wife was beaten and raped to death. He has 11 machete wounds in his back as a rememberance of the day they set out for a new life. Now he cleans bathrooms at the local rest. for $1.00 an hour. I'm pretty sure he didn't take your job.

if he wasn't being sarcastic, i assumed that he was because of a sense of extreme ironic-ism.
because he brought up 9/11 and terrorism, and i'm pretty sure that during WW2, germany and america were like you know, worst enemies, or something along those lines.... with the whole nazi thing. i'd assume that americans would have looked at germans as terrorists back then, as they do with all their enemies..
compared with lets say... america and mexico, who logically shouldn't hold a grudge against each other, as far as i'm aware..

When has a Mexican terrorist attack ever been an issue? It doesn't even sound right saying it. Guess what, Mexican's have been crossing those borders illegally for a very long time, day in and day out way before September 11, so the whole terrorist argument is invalid. The only issue with terrorism and those borders is having real (non-Mexican) terrorists travel to Mexico and using it as an entry in to the United States. I guarantee if you were born on the other side of that fence and you knew that a better life was just over that wall, you would jump it. Don't blame people for not being as fortunate as you to be born in to such a great country full of opportunity and hope. You have no idea what life is like over there. And on another note, if a poor illegal uneducated illiterate Mexican can do a better faster job than what you have ultimately steered and focused your entire life towards as your chosen profession then that should be an indicator of just how much you have accomplished with yourself. It's really a failure on your part, given all the opportunity you were born in to.

First of all, the United States is a capitalist nation. You lost your job because that is how capitalism works. You're obsolete.

Also, English is not an official language of The United States, and never has been, so that point is moot. Google it.

Secondly it is impossible that your Grandfather came here "legally" from Germany, but lets back up a bit.

Not only that, but many states in this union were stolen from Mexico during illegal wars crafted by the United States government.

And oh yeah...before Europeans created the idea of state and domestic borders, there were none. Borders don't actually exist.
