AJ, I really can't say I agree with your argument that the police officers are possibly just . Since when is not knowing your job an excuse for keeping it? Absolutely. The cop that killed my friend and shot someone in the back of the head while they were driving away a year earlier and the passenger is paralyzed because the car hit a pole after the driver's brains got ejected.

There's no other job in the world where you can kill innocent people and be allowed to not only stay out of jail, but keep your job. All because people say that your job is "hard" and that you have to make "tough decisions." You still need to make the right decisions or face the consequences.

What I don't get with my friend is that they fired him but he got no probation/jail time... My question is, WHY FIRE HIM? If he didn't do anything wrong, let him keep his job. By firing him, you're acknowledging that he did in fact do something wrong. If you admit that, then how can you NOT have him face legal consequences?

We cant say what happened one way or another, not a single one of us was there, and I dont say he was right or wrong, because as I stated, we werent there. But dont be so fast to judge, are you a police officer? Its not an easy job, nothing about it is, there are a lot of things that go into something like a drug raid, its not simply picking a house and going in.

Id be more interested if it was a drug warrant signed by a judge,then they would of had to purchase from the premises or person in question several times , before they would serve a full on drug seisure..( knock now) . But alot of it comes down to cops knowing very little about a situation and being very eager with the trigger.In a high stress situation. He might have been the scum of the earth but its not there place to enforce that. I think ron has a point , (minus the possabilites of dirty cops) if they give you directions follow them dont make sudden movements, dont yell at them be calm. Being tased sucks ive been there . Being shot thats a never ending pain to everyone.

You seem content just pointing your finger and arbitrarily declaring this guy as evil (I know you didn't literally say that). Do you really think that this stuff will stop if this one cop goes to jail? This stuff is systemic which requires you step back objectively look at the bigger picture and assess what is really going on here. I'm not making excuses for anybody, I'm just trying to guess at what the systemic problem is in this scenario. Dismissing a cop as some blood hungry douche bag with a gun doesn't serve any purpose whatsoever. Understanding why things happened has more value to me than labeling and disregarding people.

Bringing it back to jiujitsu... it's like people who get smashed by wrestlers due to dominant hip control. Some people disregard the wrestler as a hulking dumb gorilla and others will try to understand and master the hip dynamics in play.

This is a great thread! I am glad I have been able to hear both sides of this debate. However, here is the question we should all ask ourselves...

What would you think of the cop, if the person he shot and killed was your family member? For example, AJ, I read your posts in the "first time you ever got high" thread and you mentioned your Aunt & Uncle getting you high for your first time...

What if this was your Aunt that was shot and killed? Do you think you would have a different outlook?

review of my incident...

a cop showed up to a domestic violence call and the man shot the wife and the cop and took his son, got in his car and took off...

i got pulled over (cops thinking i was the guy who just shot two people) by the entire police force (in riverside california) on duty at the time and had every gun pointed at me (pistols, shotguns and assault rifles), the roads blocked in all directions and these cops want me bad (because they thought i was armed and just shot two people, one being a cop)...

even though i follow directions well i made two mistakes (one i put my hands out the window like they said and opened the door from the outside but pulled them back in for a second when the door opened (could of got shot here) and then when i exited the car i turned and faced them for a second (could of got shot here), then i followed all directions to the t, got tackled cuffed and thrown in their car, all without getting beat up, tased or shot...

i was released when they got the call, the guy was found, he shot himself on the side of the road and he let his son live...

moral of the story, follow the directions of the police and dont give them a hard time, there is a time and place for complaining about how they are treating you and when their gun is on you is not the time...

I'd imagine that I'd be irrationally angry at the cop and demonize him, being entirely incapable of objectively looking at the situation from a far. However, if it was my other crazy aunt I'd probably shrug my shoulders and think, "That's what happens when you fuck around with the cops." That woman always starts shit.

I've got a BA in Criminology and have seen this situation from the police department's side and I'm telling you, no one knows what it's like when you are doing a drug raid unless you have done one before. Yes it was a tragedy, and no I don't want to take anything away from that, but I maintain that the laws are what need to be changed, not the hirelings. Would this thread even be here if it were some dude in his basement cooking meth who got popped? I doubt it. I'll say it again... leave the stoners alone god damnit!
