A quick thing on the belts, the gym that me (33 yrs of age) and my family go use an intermediate belt system where they throw in belt in between white and blue, (like yellow, orange and green) and even a red before the black. I don't know much of the stated reason why but I figure it is just to make some cash off of belt fees. the head instructor is legitamate and is a black belt of Carlos Machado. So there are some adult orange belts out there ( I am one of them)

Hey Gannard I'm sorry but, Red Belt is Above Mastery Level, The number of Red & black & straight Red Belts, you can count on one hand, like Carlos Gracie JR. and Rickson Gracie should be a Red Belt. These guys chew "Black Belts" up and spit them out.

I understand that but once again it is not my system it is the instructors system, and since he is not Gracie BJJ, i believe he can use whatever belt system he likes

True ! I guess I'm just a traditionalist in terms of philosophy. But very nontraditional in terms of this "Hybrid Style" developed on the 10th planet, via a "Cloud 9" space ship.

[QUOTE=derrick ikwueme;10148]Snapping Gracie Arms using "Gracie Jiu Jitsu"
He was using catch wrestling grappling does not begin and end with brazilian jiujitsu and its not about styles its about knowledge and understanding, you are right most fights do end up on the ground but sometimes its from a guy getting knocked out and falling there.

Traditional jujitsu uses pretty much the same belts as judo. Depends on the school (ryu) but my JJJ school it is white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, black and then red and white. There are a couple of black belts that train bjj as well, and are white belts.
In reality, belts just hold up you pants.
Or tell you who to fight inna tournament.

Hey, Japanese Jiu jitsu, or Brazilian Jiu Jiujitsu, At least you know your getting the "Complete Art" a lot of people who seek Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at MMA schools are only getting "Pieces" of the art. I can't tell you how many times I've rolled with Upper level belts, Who didn't have solid survival and escaping skills, and once you take there back or mount them, they "Spazz Out". & survival and escaping should be heavily stressed at "White Belt". Why teach a "fancy sweep" or "submission" if the student can't defend and escape the Mount or the Back. Why "force" puzzle pieces into places where they don't fit.

This is an excellent read on this subject. The subject of street fights doesn't seem to be well understood, and some arts are better geared towards these 4 levels of conflict than others.

Over analytical about simple matters, Theres usually not enough time to go over the legalities of a situation. Just be aware. If you can't avoid the situation, then do what you have to do to "survive". Fuck worrying about getting sued. Ladies, if a man attacks you always consider it "Life & Death" and only worry about how long you have to close off the "Arteries" before that fuckers finished for good. No jury in there right mind would convict you, and you'd save someone else from being a victim.
