Jones has respect for Machida, how could he not? He probably just got caught up in the winning moment and it slipped his mind that the "proper" thing to do is to check on Machida to make sure he's alright. He heard Jackson remind him, and he did his thing. I mean can you even imagine how much shit would be running through your head in the few minutes after knocking out a legend to defend your UFC title?!
As far as Jackson is concerned, I don't think that coaching Jones to go check on Machida was inappropriate at all. Jackson seems to run pretty much all facets of Jones' career and public relations is definitely part of that. He probably shouldn't have yelled the "win some fans" part, especially with so many microphones surrounding him, but you have to remember, we only heard one small sentence from Jackson, and we have no idea what the context of "win some fans" really was. Maybe he meant it as a joke and realized immediately how insincere it sounded but couldn't take it back? Maybe "win some fans" in itself is an inside joke in the Jackson camp? Maybe Jones has been working particularly hard on his image lately and his PR agent is particularly cold-hearted and Jackson was mocking him/her? Maybe Jackson and Jones are both greedy heartless pricks who only care about money and could care less about the true well-being of Machida? The point is you can't judge a man based on one sentence like that, and you certainly can't judge the man who it was said to just because he listened.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong. Jon Jones is alright in my book. For now. :-)
