I'm an ITF (TKD) guy and it was all I knew for over a decade before I met Derek Stewart. He introduced me to other styles, to include JJ (this is before he got into 10P). Ever since, I've been trying to do what this guy has done, but I operate in a very close-minded style of TKD. So I began teaching it in my curriculum anyway and have been a black sheep ever since. At the time, I only knew the basics, but felt it a disservice to my students not to teach them at least that much. So I know where this guy is coming from and give him mad props for taking it as far as he has.

I am SO impressed with your open-mindedness. It is so rare for a master of one art to admit the merits of another, and show how it can fill holes in your training. Even in BJJ, traditionalists argue with 10th planet concepts simply because they came from 10th planet. Thank you for repping 10th planet JJ, BJJ, and grappling in general. You are a better fighter and teacher because of your attitude!

Oh, and props to Eddie for getting ahead of the curve, and setting the tone of this thread. That's a lot of foresight to see the potential for this to become a debate or critique, and thus alienate someone who is all for what we do.

Thank you Mr. Bravo, and thank you to all for the encouragement. We are working hard in the AKLA to bring the ground game to the stand up field of American Kenpo. :)

Our school trains out of a New Century Kenpo Karate school. We've never thought about infusing our stuff into the Kenpo system. This is a pretty interesting development. I'm going to share this with the head instructor of the Kenpo side of the gym and see if this is something they'd be interested in.

Thank you Mr. Bravo. I just found this thread. I would have responded much quicker. My study continues to grow. Our Club in OK would like to officially join the 10P. I feel in order to make real advancement, it will take a more traditional approach using the 10P belt advancement. Who do I speak to?

Robert I sent you the info to contact Eddie in a private message.

My boy James Johnson(10p Blue Belt and Owner Of Elite Fight Systems soon to be 10p Joliet IL) is a 2nd or 3rd degree kenpo Black under Ed Parker. He has been fucking with the system for years. He has a branch called New Path Kenpo, I Believe.

damn i wish i was under master parker! i'm a 3rd black under master m.taylor, my system New path kenpo is where i'v been trying to incorporate my tae kwon do/kickboxing background into my grappling, my ideal karate for mma:) with the 10th p system i found it worked more fluid with kenpo than a traditional bjj style and follows quite a bit of master parker's ideals and some concepts complement one another.i like seeing other kenpo schools thinking outside the box:)
