I'm working on everything, but I've been trying to catch the Japanese necktie as much as possible. This is my most recent during a roll:

I'm training myself, so advice/pointers are always welcome!

Dylan, I started kinda like this so I feel ya. Truth is you could use it as self defense beautifully, and if that is your goal then you're good. But if you want to take it to the next level you will have to train with people better than you, on a consistant basis.
Bobby: I know, and the best I can do right now is to make the drive to Indy once every couple months. I've got a decent little circle of guys to train with, and they can each catch me every so often, but other than one dude who stops in to visit every now and again I don't get tapped too often. That's exactly why Blake in the video rolls with us: he wasn't tapping anywhere else. I talk to Bill Keeling a lot for help, hit every seminar I can, and stop by jits schools whenever I travel for work, but this is a pretty rough time for me as far as being able to train regularly outside of town. :/
All things with the truck and twister, all the rolls, set ups, subs, etc...just trying to pull them off as much as possible during rolling
I've been refining my 100%er, and been trying to get to the truck as much as I can while sparring / free wrestling. Being the only 10p practitioner at the gym I've had awesome success, so trying to hit it from different positions, and really make it part of my game.
Try to get good at one piece at a time. Eventually you will map out paths.Quote:

Just controlling and getting the feel of the position is crucial. People often are in such a rush to get the submission, and lose the control / position. Fabio Santos, once told me "The submission is just the tip of the iceberg, the control is the iceberg" ...I've always preached that to my guys.
weak side rubber guard
entries into the truck, crooked guard, and striking from unorthodox control positions
Butterfly guard, primarily to sweep, but will work on submissions from butterly eventually.
Being a bigger guy I'm always trying to work rubber guard on my strong and weak sides, and after being inspired by 10th Planet Omaha's Derek Stewart I'm also trying to throw in a little De La Riva gaurd and Spiral as well.
