Robert: I hear what you are saying and I totally agree. But even if he doesn't want to praise her personally, as a coach, he could have come to me also right? Look at you good people, yall appreciate all the hard work we put into this. It just a normal thing to do. Its not going beyond the call of duty. Its just being normal people. If I see a kid work hard at the tournament, I rightfully give that kid my praise. Remember these kids put in the work, and they get nothing back except some form of recognition. I guess in some strange way even the black belt that make it to ADCC are fighting for recognition. For example, we all know of Marcelo and his accomplishments and we rightfully praise him and recognize him.
Take Master Eddie for example, we aren't officially affiliated with him, but he has shown Cora so much love. He is a person that truly get what we are doing. Nothing is too small in his eyes and that is why we are stuck on his system. THe support is incredible. I don't even pay him anything in form of monthly gym fee and he's not making anything except my $5 each month, but somehow he always find ways to praise Cora. His words are like Gold to her. It doesn't take much to extend a warming words to someone who look up to you.
Anyways, I don't really know what I'm saying..just rattling on....:)
Wow. Your daughter has some impressive talent. Love the way she transitions from one sub attempt to another. And only 10?... again wow. In a way, a feel bad for those boys that have to face her. She quickly puts them on the defensive leaving them little opportunity to work their top game. Congratulations to you and your little superstar Cora.
PS. That's one good-looking family you have there, sir.
Cora has another tournament this weekend in San Antonio. I just spoke to the promoter/owner of the event and he ask if Cora wants to fight in the 70-79 lb division because we currently registered her in the 60-69 lb division? He had seen her last weekend fighting in the 60-79 lbs division. So I ask Cora what she wants to do, this girl wants to test herself and fight in the 70-79 lb division. We are going far to fight different kids, but somehow she end up fighting some of the same kids no matter where we go in Texas. So to guarantee she will fight new kids, we need to change her weight division. What yall think?
Yeah Bruce, it is kind of weird that the coach has given no recognition whatsoever. Is Cora maybe doing techniques that he has never taught her? Maybe he feels put out or something. Anyway. If she was my student I'd be shouting about her from rooftops! I've lost count how many times I've shown people the video clips of her. For a kid so young to be so technically sound it's a pleasure to watch! Can't wait to see the next comp!! :)
Robert: its the rubber gurad stuff I'm thinking. And the next tournament is this sat. I'm keeping in the 70-79 lbs division as there are more kids whom she never fought before. Its a higher weight class so I'm hoping for really tough competition for her so she can learn more from going against bigger boys.
wheres the tournament at i live in san antonio, and ive always wanted to go see some fights live, and to see cora's talent and meet the father that facilitated this incredible warrior would be an amazing
