Failing that, kick him in the nuts.
Troubled kid or no, nip it in the bud. Its not about keeping him from learning jiu jitsu so he can't use it to hurt people, because there are a lot of easier ways to seriously hurt somebody than learning jiu jitsu. It is about protecting your other students and giving them a safe, comfortable environment to learn. If the gym owner is still disagreeable, I wonder how he is going to feel when this guy drives away several other students and gives his school a bad reputation in the community?
Martial arts, jiu jitsu included, aren't for everyone. Some people may respond well to being confronted about needing to change their ways, and others just need to be shown the door they have made it clear they are going to change nothing about their behavior. You can't discriminate on age, race, sex, or orientation, but you, and further more your students, do not have to put up with dangerous, immature individuals.
Give him the Boot. 10th Planet is for cool people, not asshole meat heads.
Jonathan Wylie is on point in this thread. His first two posts refelct my sentiments exactly.
He is a cancer get rid of him. Sounds like you've gone far beyond what he deserved.
THe same day i posted this the gym owner posted a link to a ex gang member who turned himself around with his help, it was a very nice story and was in the paper, but it totaly didnt help my cause...
This guy I was talking about has been removed from class until the new year, he is never allowed to roll with or partner with a female student again.
And its first strike youre out after the probabtion period.
The guy is coming to the gym to sit and watch from the corner so im hoping the actions taken work
You can handle this one of 2 ways i think.
Either you talk to him and address it and listen to your gym owner. OOOOOOr you can pull him outside and give him a beating that he deserves, if its to a point where its not stopping sometimes a dudes gotta limp a little to learn. You gotta address bullying right away. if hes laughing in your face when you try and take the higher route, and try to talk to him, you've already exhausted the "be nice" method. Give him a nice asswhooping, if he comes back then you know he has learned his lesson, if he leaves, who gives a fuck? hes a big douche anyway.
Give him the boot. Let someone else "train" him.

I tried Brent,
The gym owner helped this ex gang guy who was almost in jail for murder turn his life around and now he has been working construction for 15 years and is the hardest worker there they gave him a company car so he can run the car pool. Its like the ultamite turn around story.
If they had printed that article the next day...
