Dude, that was a blast. And lots of lessons learned.
1.) The ginger snap is good if I can get that arm on the other side of my body, but that's not an option on guys who play the constant smash/squeeze game like wrestlers.
2.) I need to decide how important winning in competition is to me.
2:00 in is when I thought he passed out in the triangle. I loosen my legs to check on him and that's when he spins out. Also at about 3:30 after the omoplata attempt when I had his back pushing his arm, I remember it hitting that tension point and thinking "this feels like it could be an injury in a second".. I don't know, I understand the me or him mindset.. But I feel like I'd rather tap and lose a match than win by injuring someone, even if it was they had the option of tapping.
I still absolutely love competing. Even if I have to lose everytime I get to did holes in my game I've never seen before. Ironically, this was the worst I've ever done in a tournament and it's the most fun I've had at one as well. Seeing everyone there together reppin 10th planet. And the whole team just wrecking shop. Such a great time.
Oops.. Meant to post that last one under "chad_allen" account but forgot I was still logged in under this one :p
See holes in my game*
It's his job as a competitor to respect you and himself by tapping. Take his ass to sleep next time, make the ref separate the situation. I'm a little more hesitant on arms/shoulders and legs but even still, this person needed a reality check on competition. "Tap or snap" didn't arise from pickin daises. Sometimes you just gotta dunk that shit.
HELL YEAH!!! Well done!!
Joe Stanford wins in Blue Belt Absolute. He ended up taking Silver.
This finish is a no arm triangle. Very sneaky.

Out of curiosity, was Triad or Matt Larsons there? How did purple+ divisions look as far as amount of people competing and quality?
Alliance, Puccio, and Centurion (FL) both had multiple Purple belts there. Other than that it was slim picking. A few here and there. I don't know Matt Larsons.
But if we don't show up because there's no competition then we are feeding that fact even more. If we start showing up more regularly, more high level guys are gonna keep coming out. Unless they're scared :)
Amazing set of videos. Manny is a beast!!!! I loved the guard pull into mount into mounted triangle. So smooth. His poor opponent had no idea what was going on. Super strong showing from everyone.
