Whats the point of life according to everyone's opinion?

I agree with lots of people here its to evolve as individuals and as a race trying to reach maximum potential. Love is a big part of life we need spread our light. Im wondering are we talking about the point of life for human beings or just the point of life on a universal level. I would like to know what some of you think the point of a monkeys life is or that of a whale dolphin or any other intelligent animals?. We are all animals. Is our point not the same as every animal why are we special? because we have the mental capacity to think we are? just a thought. I am not one to beleive that all animals were put on this earth for humans to use and consume.

So the ideas of living forever and eternally are just selfish emotions of thinking one is the greatest thing in the universe?

I was like you I was raised in a very strict Christain upbringing but left years ago. To be honest the whole meaning of life thing is something I have put off giving serious consideration till I'm in my late 30's or 40's. However for a time I did research and study alot of religions although certainly not all. At the moment I would consider myself an agnostic.

However something I did learn which you might find interesting is a little something I learnt from speaking to a Jehovah's witness at my door a few years ago.

They believe that the human form as it is today is imperfect and to cut a long story short they think that eventually we will be restored to our original perfect form. The main defect of being imperfect is that we grow old and die while they believe we are supposed to live forever. However some of them elaborate further which I found intrigueing. Another aspect this particular witness mentioned was memory. He referenced scientific evidence that we everything we ever see and hear is stored perfectly in out subconscious. However we do not have access to it but apparently we are supposed to. He told me to imagine what the human race would be like if everyone had a perfect 100% memory and was at pains to keep mentioning the scientific angle to try and give this theory credibility. I thought yes learning stuff would be a million times quicker and you certainly would not need to spend 3 years learning a degree when you theoretically learn it in a fraction of the time. The witness then joked you could learn 100 Phd's worth of information before your even 10 years old! Then he went back to the claim that we were originally designed to live forever and mentioned some evidence which I haven't checked out that apprantly at some stage in our lives a protein is secreted which goes around destroying the cells in our body and this is what causes the aging process. If that were switched off and we had a 100% photographic memory think of the possibilites he said to live beyond a mere 70+ years. Many secrets impossible and inaccesible to us now would be revealed!

I found all this speculation interesting until he got to the part that we inherited this imperfection because one of our original parents disobeyed God by listening to a talking snake with vocal cords and ate some forbidden fruit! At that point I thanked him for the interesting conversation and said goodbye but I have always remembered that morning. The possibilities were very interesting and I admired his attempted use of perceived scientific evidence to persuade me.

All in all I do think there is a point to life and just because it is not within our current ability to understand it does not mean there is none in my view. I don't believe in something coming from nothing but I do not subscribe to any religious view of creation either so thats why I'm an agnostic for now.

Interestingly I have heard of people using the Illuminati secret societies stuff as further proof that Satan and Demons control the earth along with Eastern religions and trans-dimentional beings seen through drugs etc. Like I said this stuff is something I do not bother with for now but eventually when I'm much older I think I will investigate all these claims about life and see where it takes me to.

the meaning of life is different for each person based on their point of view. Such an example is from the great Peter Griffen while once being recorded for a reality show. "Got some dandelions here.... I know they're weeds but uhh.... Who the hell decided roses were so great?" :P

Imo, life should not be separated into categories.

The universe, in the dimension we exist, is nothing but information. All that ever is or was, not waiting to be discovered or learned just is. There are constants-mathematics, and materials-matter. Then there is how those constants effect materials, physics and chemistry. Then you have forces- gravity, electricity, weak and strong nuclear forces, and inertia. All of these coexist without self-awareness and apparently no meaning yet in predictable patterns and states of existence. They interact in the form of collisions or attractions or chemical reactions.

Then somehow (miracle?) carbon started a self-sustained chemical reaction.(which is all life really is, taking all mystique away from the definition) Then for some reason this chemical reaction tends to lean towards more complex forms, even combining matter with chemical reactions to register and react to outside matter and forces better giving a single chemical reaction a chance to sustain itself. We call these senses. First there was only one, touch or a sense of pressure. Later to tap into the vast energy that the sun releases came "sight" in the form of sensing radiant energy. For some reason this ongoing reaction keeps developing and nurturing more senses to better deal with and thrive in its environment.

Then it began to process some of this infinite info that has always been, intelligence. Why? With this is the birth of feeling and emotion, both chemical reaction. The first was fear. The fear that its own reaction would be extinguished rendering it, simply matter. This is the fear of death. This caring or awareness of a chemical reaction of itself comes from where and to serve what purpose? To prolong the reaction indefinitely it must replicate and nurture it spawned reaction with only the reactions equipped with the ability to sustain itself thriving and passing on the secret(dna) to its survival yielding evolution. And the pinnacle of evolution thus far is the brain, the human brain more specifically. This is where the marriage of information and matter intersect.

So why are we here? No fuckin clue. But my theory is information wants to be learned and spawned life from this desire. Information is God? I guess from my hypothesis, yes.

As of now we only have five senses to process the information bombarding us at all times and we view our lives separate entities. Following life's track record more senses will come and with that more realizations drastically changing the perspective of whatever organism possesses them. Happiness, fear, love, these are all just chemicals(neurotransmitters) that allow us to better serve the original reaction and the plan behind it.

What? No fuckin clue, but it seems to be to combine existence with information. The fact that a single chemical reaction has made it to the point that it is typing this nonsense, while others shake their heads at a monitor wtf-ing is proof that life has purpose and a plan. Just anyone who says or thinks they know what it is is full of shit and needs to keep reacting.
