That's my gripe with what Keenan replied. I'm sure it actually does end up being more like a deep half thing like he says. But if you put up videos of just the very first in a long set of videos, and you call it Mantis guard and then get annoyed when people think it's basically spiral because "you haven't shown everyone the full thing yet" then either show people the full thing or don't call the first part the mantis guard.
Actually I would say it isn't really reverse de la riva or spiral at all
The key to RDLR is the RDLR hook, there is no RDLR hook so it can't really be reverse DLR
Just a thought
These are the types of things that dont really matter in jiu jitsu. Id still like to hear his philosophy on the position.
What qualifies as a RDLR hook? It's kind of like saying Ramey guard isn't half guard.
