Yup. They actually respect the risks and dangers involved with fighting. While most people want MMA to build itself into a respectable "sport" these guys are in the cage existing in what it is, a fight.

I don't fight because I respect the danger and I understand the level of physical commitment that would be required of me to protect my life in the cage. Who trains harder, the person who's getting ready for their next match or the guy who views every minute away from the gym as another second closer to brain trauma, a fractured jaw, physical disfigurement, and even death?

The Diaz brothers are definitely bad for the sport. But they are fucking great for the fight.

I still hate the wangster ass fucker...but I don't want him fighting one of my favorite fighters again.....

I hate him because his fake ass thug mentality gets young boys killed trying to act like him. Period. I see this shit every day. Fucking idiots running around starting shit, calling each other and black guys niggas. Stockton, Fresno, Modesto...I know a ton of fuckers from there and used to visit all of the time. you like him I hate him...I hate gangster rappers too and have had BET on block for over 10 years. People on our air waves have the responsibility of not being douches. Have you been to stockton. You know how many kids that act like him end up with a bullet to their dome. I've worked with these kids for years, that's how I ended up in stockton a lot. The fact that he plugs his gym is glossed over by his antics.

You guys are making the same mistakes fans in the major sports do. You're confusing talent with some higher morality. I don't. Just because he's one of the best mma fighters in the world does not mean he should get a pass for running around like a retard every time he is on camera. your nonsense is my truth and it has nothing to do with jiu jitsu. there are plenty of martial art practitioners that use it to become predators. I get it...Nick diaz is cool because he's a jiu jitsu blackbelt and smokes pot...got it. And everything else he does, supports or speaks on is ok...long as he smokes pot and fights. Kids in the 209 do look up to him...but they...at least as of a couple of years ago not running into caesar gracie's or nick's school. They're throwing it up talking about that N is one of us!

He doesn't like talking! They make him do interviews, then they edit or replay the outspoken parts to give the whole fuckin thing a bad context. He leads by example by workin his ass off, and when he's not doin that he trains and competes in friggin triathlons. Then im guessin he hits the couch tired, broke down, and beat up as fuck just to get up and do it all again the next day. Then he might chief a lil' to wind down after pushing his body and mind farther then most could fathom. It should be a non-issue.

I wish all these lil wangstas you speak of would truly act like Nick. Hell it wouldnt hurt most of us to..

I don't see how Nick is acting like a gang member. The dude talks in a nor cal accent and listens to the Deftones. Does he even have any tattoos? Last time I checked the dude lives an insanely healthy lifestyle.

If anything people are coming across as a bit prejudiced here. He just seems like an ADD addled dude with social issues and I don't even think the gang references would be mentioned if he wasn't a mexican from Stockton. Do we know for a fact that he had any sort of gang past? He was on the swim team in highscool for christ sake. There's nothing gangster about the swim team. When he was bullied he turned to BJJ to learn to defend himself when most people would have turned to gangs.

At the same time, I refuse to make any excuses for his actions. He's made his bed and now his career will suffer for it but that's all between him and the promoters. I'm just there to see him fight, not to hang out with him.

How Nick carries himself is irrelevant. Everybody has their own way of amping themself up. Facts are still facts. Nick has no weakness. Solid chin, good boxing, decent muay thai, great jiu jitsu... not to mention, he is a bad match up for anybody at 170. He's 6'1''. I don't see Jake beating GSP but I do see Nick dethroning the champ. Diaz > St. Pierre

i think GSP's precession striking and awesome wrestling would have and advantage over Nick Diaz, but i agree that would still be a great fight.
