I did write a blog about training in Brazil but I dont think it was ever posted on OTM. I had my blog on sherdog and my own personal site though. I also did a couple of interviews for OTM, wrote for fightpodcast, mmaprogear and a couple of other sites.
I did train with Gordo and that is who I got my black belt from.
Gordinho actually moved back to Brazil two days before I returned to the states. People keep telling me I would have loved to trained there when he was there because he actually gets on the Brazilians about being on time and being lazy for the warmups (something that irritated the fuck out of me).
do you guys think its proper to "belt" or "rank" someone based on some video clips ??? how do you feel about this cause i hear of people attempting to do that in various places ?
i will say this just keep training and when you feel down or you feel like you want to be recognized just think of Eric Paulson he was a blue belt for like 10years or so under Royce and Rickson and stopped training with them but he was competing at the highest levels of MMA all over the world but never training under anyone then was given his Black Belt by Rigan Machado because he was infact a black belt and it just goes to show that if you put in the time and the work you will get what you deserve.
Now Memphis judo and Jiu Jitsu is a great place ive been there and trained there its a Marcelo Garcia Affiliate and im sure that if you went down there to train and they told you, you were a blue belt you are they are a legit place to train and learn. So i dont think you should feel as if they were just giving it to you as a money thing. Just my opinion.
Keep Progressing and keep Advancing
Its sketchy the way the Gracie Academy does it but Eddies requirements are pretty solid hints the reason nobody has met them in over a year and half(I think at least that long if not longer...cant remember.) If you see somebody on video competing and running through tech whats the difference in being there first hand.
