i'm glad mendes lost, he has such a boring wet blanket style,
it's interesting you say that....there's fighters out there that know how to win fights but end up being boring..whether it's their style in fighting or personality. they usually end up being decision masters...except sam stout usually goes the distance but isn't boring. main example is jon fitch. I hope he gets cut because he's boring as fuck both personality and fighting style. wouldn't mind seeing him get KO'd again tho :D
See I enjoy watching both mendes and fitch anytime they fight. There's just something awesome about someone that can impose their style on you. I honestly thought the barboza/etim fight was boring till the finish.
what's cool about the RIO fans is there so edjucated that wet blanked non guard passing styles get bood quick, as well as jitz players that arent passing or attacking from the guard, they cheer for passing and sub attemps but they'll boo you just as quick for stalling, especially if they know you have a jits game, i hope usa fans and canadian fans will become as educated, when that happens boring fighters will struggle to get title shots no matter how many wins because the fans don't want to watch them fight. the ufc will soon have to consider a fighters ability to entertain very soon not just there record, thats why Fitch & maynard took so long to get title shots because if they win your stuck with boring champs that can't sell ppv's
Edson Barboza's friggin spinning heel kick, did anyone else remember when Joe Rogan and Eddie talked about this kick in MTS. I think its 16 or 17 the one just before Gsp works out with Joe Rogan.
LOL this has to be sarcasm. Toquino's heel hook was some jiu jitsu genius. :)
Nah, I think he's an exciting wet blanket. LOL. Wet blanket who throws flying knees and tries sommersault guard passes. Too bad that accounts for like 5% of his attacks.
Interesting perspective. I respect that. I thought Barboza/Etim was very exciting because it was exactly what you said....imposing his style on Etim. It was just a striking attack. I respect Fitch's workmanlike skill, but I dont' find him entertaining at all. But you do. I think you account for a minority though. But def respect your opinion. Entertainment is subjective.
Agreed. Plus the fact that they're so interactive. When they announced along with Bruce Buffer for the main event....the WHOLE CROWD saying "iiiiiiiit's TIME!!!" Dude, I got chills. I never thought MMA would be this big during the dark ages. Crazy to see my favorite sport blowing up like this.
Yep. Won't be surprised to see more guys try it now. Once something is seen as effective, everyone wants to try it.
Im far from knowing anything about striking so I guess I didn't pick up on the fact barboza was imposing his will. Kinda looked like a stalemate to me. Prob cause I don't know a thing about striking. I've also only watched it the one time
