I have pepper spray and zip ties by the front door and in my jeep. I figure the cops would rather show up to some guy zip tied than a guy with his throat slit open. Pepper spray works really well if you don't get it on yourself and it's seen as a defensive weapon. I have hurt my hands before accidently punching to the sides and top of the head in street fights so if your going to hit the back of the head do it cleanly.
