Love this thread. I'm a super noob with only a Mastering the Rubber Guard book and youtube videos to aid me in 10pjj so you'll pardon me if I have modest goals for now. :)
1 Month: Improve my lockdown game: I'd like to be able to hit Old School. Find a go-to option for mount escape that I'm comfortable with.
6 Months: My 4 year old should have started training. For each position, top and bottom (except for North South), I'd like to have some option that I'm comfortable with and that I can execute without having to think it through step by step. Open guard, closed guard, half guard, side control, mount, back-mount.
1 Year: Blue Belt? Down 25 pounds. Compete? Improved flexibility, look into hitting RG during free rolling. Have a scary lockdown. Multiple options for each position that I'm comfortable with a and can flow through.
2 Years: I'd like to be working the truck and blowing minds (locally) with leg locks. I'd like to be hitting Spiderweb from multiple positions. My 2 year old is 4: he should be starting BJJ around this time. My four year old is 6. When should he compete? Compete in no-gi?
5 Years: If there is no 10th Planet school I can train within five years from now, I'd ad least like to have a very broad game that confuses and frustrates very orthodox gi players.
10 Years: Black belt. My eldest son should be 14. If he likes BJJ, he'll have the support he needs to succeed in tournament.
Too modest?
New Goals:
do 40 pull-ups without stopping
Bench Press 300lbs
Learn to get my breathing under control
My goals for 2014 are to take 1st at Gracie Worlds and earn my brown before the end of the year.
