robbie could have hurt him but he was blinded by his rage
Wow. He made a lot of great points. And pretty much punked AH.
Im rooting for Daley, he's our only hope to bring a belt to England at the moment! Plus Diaz likes to bang which will probably be his downfall against Daley. Its going to be such a good fight! Two of my favourite fighters :)
I have to say, before this thread goes to the archives, nick diaz has always been one of my favorite fighters. He's immensely exciting to watch. I also like him personally. I think he's got a good head on his shoulders and his outlook on his personal life is pretty evolved... His attitude towards other fighters is completely unprofessional, tho. He's too arrogant for his own good. I'd like to see Daley shock the world, but I really don't see him as a threat to nick diaz.
BJ PENN vs NICK DIAZ. that would be a dream matchup.
There is no substitute for talent and preparation. Nick trains under Luisito Espinosa, former WBA and WBC world champion. Nick also trains with Andre Ward, an Olympic gold medalist as a sparring and training partner. The best way to improve at anything is to train with people who are world class at that thing. Who does Daley work with again? What skills has he showed other then raw natural power?
Standing with his hands so far in front of him costs Nick some power, do to a lack of distance for his fist to travel, but even though he sacrifices the power that would have been created over this distance, he also costs his opponent an equal amount of reaction time. Nick uses his proximity to his advantage, effectively measuring the distance with one hand, then tagging you with the other. Scott Smith showed everyone how difficult it can be to get out of the way in such a small amount of time, before another shot lands.
It isn't just the short distance that thows fighters off it's his timing, too. Nick isn't in a hurry to finish you, he loves being in the fight and is in no hurry for it to end. He'll drag it out exhausting an opponent because, very few fighters have half of his cardio ability. The man does triathalons for Christ sake!! While other fighters burn there arms up throwing power shots and giving away their timing, Nick's arms never slow or stop coming. Diaz has figured out a way to stay on the offensive, score points with the judges and keep his opponent guessing and confused.
Hate the man all you want for his attitude and personality but Nick is a true fighter with alot of real talent. What makes his fights exciting is exactly what people say is his flaw, he isn't affraid to show the fans he has a chin, and he's not affraid to mix it up and get a little bloody or beat up. I as a fan of exciting fights, appreciate his attitude and spirit and am glad there are fighters like him to keep this sport exciting and fun. It counter balances all of the fighters who either dance around, lay on top of their opponent dry humping them, or those who rarely get the finish.
Every "Professional" sport is full "professionals" like Nick Diaz. Take a look at football, hockey, baseball. They have what "fans" call their bad boys. The fact is, if you have been around any professional athletes, there aren't very many "Professionals" around. People think that because kids are taught to act "PROFESSIONAL" that they grow up to be model citizens like GSP. It isn't true. In fact its silly.
You don't think he'd have a career if he wasn't at the top except for small shows against no-names??? DUH, what MMA fighters have careers because they suck and can't win fights but are pleasant people? Come on people, a football players goes to jail for dog fighting and then gets signed to play football after he gets out. See my point.?
The term professional should be kept at a distinguishing between getting paid on not.
1) Whether or not he jumped basically who you believe. here is the story from both parties. http://ninjashoes.net/forum/showthre...EEN-DIAZ-RIGGS
Niether of them say it was in a bathroom though. Whatever two dudes, 2 different stories. I like Joe Riggs but I have a hard time believing that he didn't instigate that at all.
2) I think Diaz only gets a bad wrap for having no head movement because he cuts easy. Look at his recent fights when he completely dodging punches with his hands down. With like Smith and shamrock. He does tend to stand straight up sometimes, but that he the difference between when he is counter punching and when he is being the aggressor. With as many punches as he throws it makes it difficult to have a swivel for a head unless your naturally very quick.
3) I think that this is either going to be a highlight reel clip for Daley with a powerful left hook knockout or it is going to be a disappointment for the fans when Diaz dominates the fight and subs him. Daley will want a rematch just like he did with Jake Sheilds after he arm bared him in the first round.
"arm bared him in the first round" Would love to see him hit that same set up ;)
well it will be a fight of the year regardless.....daley made weight so it is absolute game on!
And as I said earlier in the thread...Diaz got more respect from me from being the only guy talking about guys like kosheck's incessant leg humping. Laying on guys not trying to improve his position or submit...just stalling and holding position. It's absolutely unthinkable...change the rules or force refs to stand them up. It's not GOOD WRESTLING...it's sucks...this isn't point sparring it's MMA!
I don't really have a problem with nick...I have a problem with people (not here) thinking that dude has no flaws in his game...he does...and some big ones. But the really big problem is his lack of competition. Daley would be in the UFC right now if he didn't have a tampex moment...so this is a legit guy. If Diaz beats him the conversation is over. Sure we can say he needs to fight a legit wrestler...but whatever. I will respect him as being one of the top WW. I already thinks he has major game but his last couple of fights really didn't impress me in that the level of competition was so very low. No disrespect
