Did they say what was wrong? I hope she gets well soon. And tell her to take it easy. Don't try to rush it. I screwed up my foot by rushing things.

Hate to hear about anyone getting hurt in BJJ, especially children. Hope your better soon Cora.
But I have to say I wear a cup to protect myself, hope im not hurting anyone in the process.
Dr said she had a bad sprain/strain, xray shows no fractures. I wasn't there with her at the gym this evening as I was at my meeting, but my wife told me that she was tapping kids out with one hand. I guess this might be a blessing in disquise as she is forced to use her other techniques without the use of one of her arm...:) She has to be more creative. I did give her the option to rest, but she wants to go to the gym.
She's a monster. Good to hear that it's just a strain/sprain.
Bobby Rivers, always taking threads to the next level of awesomeness. We all learn from you bro.
Glad to hear Cora is ok!
We had a scare last week with my oldest - Another girl who is new put a neck crank on her and just torqued it super hard, and caused my daughters neck to crack and pop about 10 times. It scared the shit out of her and was excrutiating enough that we took her to the hospital for Xrays.
It was just a strain in the end and she is feeling better after only a week, but at the time she was scared there was serious damage. (So was I)
Yeah Bobby is full of knowledge and he is willing to share them. THat is why I love this place, people like bobby.
Its never a good feeling when you see your daughter gets hurt. I have to remind myself that I did sign her up for all this. And its better to see her getting minor injuries like that than to have her be a victim of someone else in life. At the last NAGA, the boy that beat Cora really didn't have any submission, he just have her neck in his legs and starts to pull down on her head, he crank her neck so hard that it popped so she just tapped. He didn't have a head and arm for the triangle.

Thats actually a very legit submission (never seen it in the kids division though...guessing he got lucky on this one). You don't need an arm to finish...all you need to do is stop blood flow to both arteries on either side of the neck. While I think its easier (and safer) to finish with an arm in (straight triangle) we have hit a ton of no arm triangles and usually finish it with with legs extended. Ive also seen it finished using a fist in one artery (see video of Tyler Connel at a somewhat recent NAGA that was posted on this formum.
Here are a few examples of matches Gabby had where she finished with a straight head scissor.
Gabby at GQ vs. Lloyd Irvin Brown Belt (notice the finish utilized a tepee technique to finish it off ...works even without the arm.)

Another example where she used it to sweep her opponent and finished on top (always the preferred place to finish).

The moral of the story is don't sleep on the head scissor...its the primary reason I abandoned the baby wipe pass and never stick my head between anyone legs anymore.
One last example of utilizing this technique from the top position. We usually fake a kimura or an armbar to set this up. Its low risk too because even if you cant finish it you can still hit the arm or the kimura or just transition to the back.

VJ Bella: thank you for the vids, I wasn't able to view the 2nd videos but the two that I'm able to watch I got your message. Gabby is a BEAST to say the least. We will incorporate this into Cora's game, especailly the tee pee choke to defend the double under pass. I have been teaching her to defend a single leg takedown with a kimura and scissoring the head, putting the boney part on the side of the knee right on the neck area. In this video at 1:26 you see her do just that.
