I have a picture somewhere on my computer of bruce doing a Kimura .... is this evidence he had a little bit of a ground game, he must have as judo , akido were al out at that time ... he must have heard of them and trainned with them or something .
guys like lyoto and spider silva utilize distance well against top level grapplers, its not hard for me to believe bruce could win a fight against a gracie. he was an extraordinary athlete, a fighting genius, masterful philosopher. doubt simply won't tarnish his legend.
Bruce by KO. Takedowns sucked back then. BJJ guys still have crappy takedowns. Bruce had enough knowledge to avoid it and to possibly get up if taken down. I could see Bruce hopping around like BJ Penn and scoring a KO from one leg. He was just too fast and acurate with his strikes. BJJ has come a long way since Bruce's time, if we are going back to that time Bruce has the advantage.
Interesting argument and you have a point Nelson. If we rewound BJJ's progression back to when Bruce was in his prime, yeah, it probably would have been hard to take him down to submit him. If it did go to the ground somehow, I still think Bruce would have gotten subbed, but if it didn't go to the ground then Bruce by KO via chain punch into headbutt or sidekick TKO.
