Hey Crazies,
I love that Renato character. I think it's pretty cool how his last name "Laranja" means Orange in Portuguese. Hey, what was Rhassan's last name again?

Chris,
I've been travelling to Brazil on and off for five years now and am almost fluent in portuguese.
Renato's nickname "láranja" means something close to "the grinder" in english - it's tough to exactly translate, but it's like seeing someone grind their teeth together.
Leave it alone for now and try to give the guy a break...
Laranja is a combination of two words, "La Aranha" or "La Aranja." It is a Brazilian word meaning "The Spider." In that part of Brazil close to Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay the "nh" is pronounced like a "j" and they are used interchangeably. The Argentinians, Paraguayans, and Uruguayans do the same but they pronounce the "ll" like a "j." Renato's nickname is a slang/phonetic spelling of a regional pronunciation. I hope this clears up some of the confusion.
I have video of Renato rolling at HQ and you will all see it on upcoming episodes of MTS.
Thank you God!!! Wait... Thank you Jason!!!
this whole thread is cracking me up..:D lol
Did he ever mention who he got his bjj blackbelt from?
I think he did on one of the episodes of MTS. I could be wrong though.
I wish I could do the Robert De Niro frown/head nod. That shit looks stone cold, yet friendly. Pure gold.
Drama can be good. Is Renato's girl friend a practitioner of jiu-jitsu? I wonder if Renato makes love with his gi top on or do you think he just wears his black belt.
