Outside Lockdown

Has anybody played around with using the outside lockdown instead of the inside one? My judo instructor told me the inside lockdown is better for sweeps and outside is better for subs and taking the back. I haven't really tried it out so I dunno how well it works.

My boy has found success with it like you said for taking the back with arm drags but he has been doing that for years so it could be a coincidence.

ive never tried it, but wouldnt it be easy to get your leg out of?

That's what I would think too. Maybe if you clinch the shit out of it..I dunno

yeah....maybe if you really clinched it hard...but is so natural for your leg to go inside, rather than outside. I dunno, ill have to try it out sometime just to see what its like. in fact, ill prolly check online for anything about outside lockdown....

I only use the outside lockdown when guys are used to unhooking their foot out of the lockdown. It reels them back in and then their default ankle motion doesn't lose the grapevine. So they jerk the wrong way, give up and then I go back to the inside lockdown.

I use the outside lockdown when playing weak side half but only because I'm so used to doing it that way from mainly playing strong side half inside lockdown. Did that make any sense? I'm baked as fuck in my hotel room in Baton Rouge. Today was the day the twister made it's way into an MMA movie :)

Let me tell you guys when you play outside lockdown that that is the same grapevine as the fucking twister truck grapevine. so all you have to fucking do is get his arm over so you can situp and boom you already have his shit fucking leg grapevined just roll damn it. Im also stoned and drunk so forgive me. But seriously get his outside arm out of the way so you can sit up and then roll. I discussed this with my friend Brandon Mc from Decatur and he really didn't understand because it was a new idea by me. But I used it one night when rolling I think if he remembers ( not against him tho) and i think he saw it. But now i use it all the time. I love the truck.

Haha I got what you're saying. Do you do anything from there or do you end up switching it back to normal lockdown?

Hmm so basically hit an armdrag then roll him right into the truck. I bet that would work pretty smoothly.
