Do you mean laying off Jiu Jitsu or laying off Rubber Guard?
Rubber guard...I've just started playing it with purpose but my flexibility is weak. I get to crack head no problem but kung fu is a forced action lol never had knee problems so just wondering if I should watch out.
Eddie talks about this sometimes. Theres a element of danger doing rubber guard with a leg thats too inflexible to go to your chest. If a guy decides to simple pressure in and "stack'. He can put your foot to you chest for you, which means a huge potential for an injured knee. Ive seen it happen in person.
I'm good at basic rubber guard just curious if anyone kept playing it while they had tweeked knees. Since I did it in a unrelated position and it doesn't hurt while I'm playing rubber guard if I should look out for anything you guys might have come across while rolling.
Start doing yoga and focus on hip openers
I would lay off the RG for a few weeks. Knee injuries are very sensitive. One good rule to play by is never let your ankle get ahead of your knee. You might could play it and be ok, but I would follow that rule and be clenching my knee ever so tight. And +1 on the stretching. That's a must. Flexibility prevents injury. :-/
Dont do shit that hurts.
Your knees should not be stressed if you have good hip flexibility. Butterfly stretch.
Did you actually pop your knees? See a doctor if you can.
Brandon the thought has crossed my mind lol Never played full guard always half or deep half but started having fun and success with rubber guard slowing down the guys that blow by my half but two freak knee tweaks later I'm afraid to keep using them.
Thanks Tori good advice!
