Any time you're bored in your jiu jitsu development is a bad sign bro. If you train in any 10P4L affiliate you wouldn't have time to be bored!
Go train at Leonards school for a week. Trust me, he will squeeze the boredom out of you. :)
Gotta be a brown belt to make a technique vid here... but, Master YouTube is the reining champ of wild, fun, cool moves!!
With the said, and I mean all due respect, but... There's a lot of subs/moves that are "cool" that might ruin your game.. I dunno if I would choose what technique to train by how cool it looks.. That's how we end up with these "crazes" in jiujitsu. Currently we are still in the berimbolo craze...sigh.
Well... I live in Korea so it's impossible to train at at Leonards school. Plus, I need some change in my game that's all.
I'm not looking for crazy, fancy move to submit my opponent. I'm just trying to catch up with recent flow of Jiu-Jitsu.
I don't know. I've been obsessed with making telles's Octopus guard work with the lockdown for me. Purely because it is called the octopus guard. A solid 6 months of getting smashed. It took me a couple months just to find a semi consistent way to get there, and I am still trying to figure things out to do with it. It pretty much killed my half guard for awhile because that is all I was going for. Now my half is just slightly injured, but getting better.
You should have fun with your jiu jitsu, otherwise whats the point. Some people have fun hitting RNC's on everyone and some people want some flash. To each his own.
you tube is the answer though for fancy stuff that looks really cool. Practicality is hit or miss.
Leonard's 10th planet is in South Korea bro. Seoul I think..
Leonard's gym is more so in the southern outskirts of Seoul; think Los Angeles to Burbank.
You don't "catch up" with current Jiu Jitsu you discover your game through trial and error. Some submissions work well for others. I want hit Gogoplata's, DLR/Berimbolo and Kimura's but for some reason they just don't click, but I do have a decent triangle, RNC and guillotine. I also love foot locks, especially toe holds. These are submissions I have had success with and find news way to hit them and adapt them. Do I ignore kimuras, birimbolos and gogo's, no way, I hope to have a fucking Miyao like spiral guard one day. The minute you start discarding moves because you are bored of them you are giving up all the reps you put into that move and risk it not becoming something you slay people with. Look at Roger Gracie, took people down, passed their guard, obtained mount, collar choke from the mount. BOOM, 10x Mundial Champion and he used basic shit. Take what you got and make it your own. Find a way to make it fun, beautiful and yours.
Find your weakest sub/area and make it your best
