Is the Twister considered a "spinal lock without choke?"
yes
I thought it was a chokal lock without twist?
So you can't hit that during an IBJJF tournament or at the Revolution...are there *any* tournaments where this is allowed?
Ah, but I've answered my own question. NAGA allows this. I love their rulebook PDF.

Awesome.
Banana split and crotch ripper from the truck, and wrist lock from baseball bat control were IBJJF friendly last I checked.
The Good Fight allows it at blue belt level if I read correctly:
BLUE AND PURPLE BELT SUBMISSIONS
- ALL GENERAL ILLEGAL SUBMISSIONS WILL APPLY EXCEPT:
Wrist locks of any kind are OK.
Any straight foot lock is OK.
Any straight ankle lock is OK.
Any straight leg lock or knee bar is OK.
NO twisting lower extremity leg locks are permitted.
Bicep slicers are OK.
Calf slicers and compression locks are OK.
Electric chair submissions are OK.
**Twister submissions are OK.

Cool :D
Are the crushes particularly dangerous?
Also, I'm a little confused about "Oh, it's ok if you twist their spine, just make sure that you're choking them at the same time..
Otherwise someone could get hurt."
