Just time and patience id say, they won't be able to pass once they triangle their legs so if you're set on going lockdown you can wait it out, I've managed to get the lockdown alot even whilst they do this, simple bring your outside leg in and under your inside leg and then try to hook and scoop it out whilst hip bumping to get the lockdown, hope that made sense.
You could also transition to butterflies or go to z guard or just play some traditional half guard
As you saw in bravo vs royler it is a struggel getting The lockdown somtimes but its worth it.
Quick question: is there anywhere that goes over the different variations of 1/4 guard, 1/2 guard, stomps, etc?
I know MTS does over the course of numerous episodes, but is there a particular episode / web page / post worth checking out?
orrrr you can check out the video I just uploaded as well, however its more for those that like Granby, rolling or inverted attacks:
Starts at the 8:15 mark:

If you really want to force the lockdown game, ministomp is where it's at. I personally play a pretty diverse, ever transitioning game. I don't like that space to be eliminated unless it's on my terms. Lately all of my open guard transitioning will cause them to dive into some sort of guard/half guard for "safety" where I have a better chance of slapping on the lockdown because it's not the first thing on their mind anymore. Developing many other areas of my game has really opened my clinch game back up again whereas when the clinch was my go to A game, people knew to avoid it, and when they did my backup options weren't as polished so I was much easier to shut down by certain people. Now they run away from my new A game and put themselves directly into my original A game. Funny how this worked out :)
Cool.
Thanx.
