Such an awesome performance marred by that unnecessary illegal knee in the second. I love watching this guy fight, and I was really looking forward to him taking home submission of the night, but now that looks like it won't happen.

charles had him OWNED i dont even understand WHY he threw a knee (my only guess is THE HEAT OF BATTLE) but normally he would have jumped for a guillotine or a triangle/armbar OR EVEN TAKE THE BACK
i feel NO REMOSE for whatever happens to him...i was a HUGE fan of his during the jim miller fight, he didnt fight the kneebar lost lil respect tonights fight i lost FULL RESPECT i hope hes ashamed of himself
Yeah, no need to heap shame on him. He's already going to have the win overturned, and that was a fight he would have most likely won anyways, so that's enough for me.
Okay, apparently they gave this Fight of the Night honors, which seems a little weird. It was definitely on its way to being that, but no fighter should get a bonus after a foul like that.
The only person that should be ashamed is that ref. He could have seriously gotten somebody killed in there with that bullshit.
Yeah that fight was all the refs fault....There would have been no need for an over ruling to a N/C if the ref would have stopped them and gave him his 5 mins to recover and check for any bad cuts.
He was timing his knees great up until that one he hit him a few times as he was getting up before that last one, He just pulled the trigger a little soon on the final knee :-(
But that ref!...I'm glad the Penn. Commissioner jumped right up on the cage and started questioning the ref and figuring out what to do.
But how about those fans!....Letting him have it right away sad they knew the rules better then him.
I felt the same way. He was clearly gonna win anyway.
Dude, he just mistimed the knee. He felt his opponent getting up and pulled the trigger before the guy got his knee off the ground. He pulled it off a couple times in that fight. Yea it's his fault for mis timing it, but it's not his fault for continuing to fight. That's what he's supposed to do. That's his responsibility. It's the ref's fault for not stopping the fight due to the foul. Oliveira did what he was supposed to do. Fight until the ref intervenes.
Exactly.
That first round was awesome though. It always sucks when fights are marred by illegal strikes. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch but it probably end up the same, Charles looked quite a bit larger than Nik to me. I wonder if Nik will cut to 145 eventually.
