My first pro mma fight
In September of 2007 I was talked into fighting a pro mma fight by my trainer after only having 2 amateur fights. Anyway I had just purchased Master Eddie's Mastering the RubberGuard book about a month earlier and started playing around with the system. I now know I made a bunch of mistakes in my rubberguard since I have been properly trained by Master Eddie, Brandon McCagren, Sean Bollinger, and Jeremy Fields on how to do the rubberguard correctly. Also I know the fight wass very sloppy. I only had 1 more professional fight after this one because I had a stroke a year later and was paralyzed on my left side for 4 months and had to learn how to walk and talk again. I have been cleared by the dr to train again since the beginning of the year and I have been making the most of it. I have started training at alliance in tallahasse fl and I have been trying to go to as many 10th planet seminars as possible. I hope to start a 10th planet hotbox end of this year or beginning next year and try as hard as possible to become a 10th planet instructor and open up a 10th planet school in South Georgia.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38SHJAoS7SQ

I had a congenital heart defect that had been undetected all my life called ASD (atrial septal defect) which is a hole in atrial wall. A blot clot passed through which usually gets filtered by the lungs but because I had a hole it went through it and passed into my brain, thus causing a stroke. I still have a very small hole but the dr's have said that it has closed up significantly and as long as I take aspirin everyday I should be fine. This isn't too uncommon of an occurrence, it happened to pro bowler Teddy Bruschi of the New England Patriots1

very nice. keep up the hard work.

Wow, that was fun to watch! You're awfully defensive about winning your first pro mma fight in < 50 seconds. lol :)

Have you ever been choked out? I ask because from what I have read about vascular chokes, people with congenital heart issues are more apt to die from them.
Congratulations with working back from that stroke. I can't imagine how difficult that would be.

I have been choked out before no problems, I use to be very stubborn when I was a noob and wouldn't tap out! Recovery wasn't great but Im very stubborn as I said before and I recovered very quickly ( so say the doctors and physical therapists however I disagree it seemed forever). Jiu jitsu and stand up have been harder than relearning to walk because I had lost a lot of the muscle memory and my reflexes werent quite what they were before and I had some residual weakness and some peripheral vision issues.

Jeremy is was great seeing you again too, I really enjoyed the Bollinger/Fields seminar you hosted in Penscacola and it was an honor being able to learn with you in Mobile AL. I look forward to seeing you again in Orlando at the Herzog Seminar!
