Hey all just wanted to know what affilliates teach kids classes and from what age to what age do you guys teach???
What age do kids usually have enough focus in class to start learning this stuff? I know it can be hard to get some kids attention if there too young.
Any feedback would help

Working on affiliation here, but I have about 10 kids in class now. Looking at about 30 more in the next month.Most of mine are 11 -16 right now. I had 30 kids 6-10 last year. I've found the attention span for most under 8 yrs. to be about ten minutes. I prefer my 11 year olds who can focus for 2 hour classes. They're hittin old schools and electric chairs like hooligans! Learning how to teach children and focus large groups require years of patience lol. There was a thread with Frank Barca I beleive had a ton of kids jiu jitsu games.
I was thinking the same thing, I might just have my kids classes from 8-14. then 15 and up can jump in the adults classes

^^^what they all said^^^ Im also trying to get a kids class going. So far we basically have six kids ages 9-12. My daughter, my step son and a few younger brothers of some of my other students. So far I have been focusing on escapes and a few subs. I figure if some kid is bullying them the escapes will help them a lot. I have been keeping the classes shorter than my adult classes because they do have a harder time staying on task
Do you have a decent level blue or assistant that you trust? 8-14 isn't bad but you're probably looking at two sub groups within that range. Of course there's always exceptions to the rule, like a 12 year old I have that is 5'10" 219 lbs. He came in with zero experience but is a natural. He had to go to go straight to adults within the first week. Then I have an 11 year old that is 70 lbs and 4'3". Kids classes require at least two highly trusted instructors at all times. You also have to categorize each student according to maturity, which way they learn (seeing, feeling, or reading a technique), as well as body type. Rolling is very different and requires alot of work to keep the tiny ones safe. Above all, I would suggest Gracie Bullyproof style of teaching along with their games. Afterwards, I created a series of Bravo Games to get the same reaction with some higher level techniques. If I can help you guys in any way, just let me know.Quote:

Yockel runs our Junior Jiu Jitsu Program. Then program is ages 8-15. Our adult program is 15+. This gives our Juniors a year of transitional period from ages 15-16 where they can do both programs.
