That's the boat I'm in. For real. I'm not strong enough to compete with the guys in my weight division. Since getting stronger and leaning out are kinda hard to do at the same time, I'm hoping that I can maintain my strength but lose weight. I should be a better fit a couple weight classes lower.
Check out Robb Wolf's stuff. He teaches a low carb diet that focuses on whole foods. His genre is paleolithic.
By the way, good carbs in the form of fruits and sweet potatoes would be allowed but preferable in a short window following a training session.
Best luck!
I always loose weight on the following diet.
Cut out all flour products. Bread, pan cakes, cake, cup cakes, hamburgers buns, pie, donuts,
apple fritters, apple strudel, oats, wheat cereal. Do not eat any of that.
No white sugar of any kind. No sugar per se of any kind.
Don't eat french fries, hamburgers and shakes or go to fast food places at all. No coke or soft drinks/soda of any kind
including diet soft drinks. I drink pure apple juice with no sugar added. Try it. It help digest your food. Apple juice that
is non filtered with help you go to the bathroom and eleminate. Try it. If it works for you fine. If not don't drink it.
In the morning 7:00-8:00 AM have breakfast with hard or soft boiled eggs. If you're afraid of eggs eat only the whites.
Do not have toast either. You need energy so have a baked potato or a sweet potato. I lose weight when I don't eat
flour products and get my energy from baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. If you think potatoes aren't good then
eat the sweet potatoes. Don't eat corn products.
Have a snack of a baked potato or sweet potato around 10:30. Hard boiled egg for protein. Throw away the yoke
if your chicken.
For lunch have chicken, turkey or fish baked/boiled or grilled. Never fried. Eat no french fries or fried potatoes.
Mashed potatoes are not good either but better than fried potatoes. Don't eat mashed potatoes if you want to lose weight.
If you're trying to lose weight don't eat supper. Experiment with your body. See what works
for you. Eat some salad but no head lettuce. Romain lettuce. Eat an apple to help digest your food.
Or don't eat an apple. See which is better.
I eat salad with chicken or tuna or turkey on it with ranch. I also eat KFC grilled chicken breast with the corn on the cob. I trained everyday for Worlds anywhere from two to four times a day.

that depends if you mean LOSE 20lbs by March 30th or CUT 20lbs by March 30th. One is ideally long term one is just for weigh in purposes
I wish that fella luck.
Seems like an achievable goal to me. I'd try to lose the first ten immediately in the first week, and gradually lose the rest. You've got over a month so depending on what your fat percentage is it should be more than attainable. I usually go to water and fruits with my supplements in 6 servings through the day no later than 7 or 8pm. It just depends what your diet history has been leading up to this point. I think a diet change will easily solve this problem but that's just my opinion. Sauna suit runs or grappling with sweats work wonders, but I tend to sweat alot. If you're cutting it close at the end one trick someone taught me that suprisingly worked was drink a couple liters of water a couple days before weigh in and cut with the sauna suit and minimal water intake until you make weight. your body will be hydrated through the cut and actually reject water rather than store it. i only suggest that option if you have more than 5 pounds or so to cut. you're gonna be pissing out your ass that whole night but I'll attest to the fact that it worked.
