its hard to take anything Michael Moore says seriously after watching his movie "Sicko"
What did you find to be the problem with "Sicko"?
You should watch "michale moore hates America" and find out how he manipulates facts and flat out lies about some things like being from Flint.
The problem isn't capitalism, it's the people who do wrong and abuse the system in place. I don't like how he blankets what he's saying, but you have to understand there is a lot of evil in the system that laws should be made against. It's horrible what some of these ass hats can get away with.

Taking health care advice from a fat ass, is like taking health care advice from a fat ass.
Michael Moore is a hypocrite... along with the rest of the people running (ruining) our country right now... here is a movie you should watch... http://iwantyourmoney.net
Its great entertainment. Although a biased opinion it gives people like myself who isnt from your country an insight into the greed of banks and key money men. It has a flow on effect to my country. The guys with millions and billions in their pockets are my preferred scape goats
for those genuinely interested in what went wrong with America's monetary system watch Arron Russo's "America Freedom to Fascism"

and my problem with "Sicko" is its fine and dandy that he documents the corruption of insurance companies denying coverage but his paints socialized medicine as the answer.
I personally agree with his stance on Health Care. IMHO medicine should not be privatized, doctors should not be encouraged to push prescription medication with fancy dinners and bonuses, and everyone should receive medical attention for free.
Let the government pay doctors a decent living wage, nothing more, nothing less. People should get into medicine because they want to help people, not because they want to get rich.
Did you know the guy who created the vaccine for Polio gave it away for free? They asked him who owned the patent because they couldn't believe that this guy would just give away millions of dollars. He said, "Who owns the patent? The people do."
hear hear
jason, in a perfect world what you described would be awesome. the problem is free health care is never "free." the money always comes from the people. governments cant pay for anything without leeching off its citizenry first. drs used to do pro bono for the less fortunate but that doesnt happen anymore.
the system we originally have wasnt flawed. those who took it over destroyed it. the same can be said for insurance companies and even our own government. now its all about pushing drugs and vaccines that havent been proven to prevent or protect against anything like gardasil or H1N1 that was a bust. autism is on the rise and it is being blamed on the slew of vaccines infants and toddlers get pumped full of at their most crucial stage in development.
the system has been hijacked by money/power hungry swindlers. i add power hungry because most of the time they have more money then one can spend in a lifetime so the only thing left to grab for is power. maybe ill find a good documentary and add it to the conspiracy thread.
might i also add if drs did pro bono, because of the welfare state that we have created where the populace is taught to reach up towards the government with open arms and hands looking for hand outs, pro bono drs would get abused.
i totally agree
michael moore of course takes quotes and facts out of context but that's nothing new. i don't like everything he has to say but he does a great job at giving the viewers a new perspective and thinking "shit, some things aren't anywhere near as simple as they appear or should be"
good point, pro bono is great under a tribal system. it is ideal in a low population group where every action and choice an individual makes will be made to benefit both the individual and group simultaneously, especially since in a small enough group you would know everyone and have a stronger bonds so you would really give a shit about them. people are more prone to act is a selfish manner in a huge population where they can less easily see their impact on the whole group.
And lousy care in the end.
"It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master."
Rand was right when she said that. What you're asking for is altruism at it's worst. Do you have any idea what it takes to become a doctor? The countless years of dedication since childhood, giving up your life for eight years to spend countless hours studying. While we roll, we spend time at the movies, parties, dicking around on the PS3, these people spend studying. Do they not deserve to be rewarded for their countless hours?
Let's face it, we all could have become doctors but didn't you know why? Because it's extremely hard. Taking money from these people is how you solve it? Would you dedicate your life to the practice of medicine for a menial wage?
You don't want doctors to take your money, but you want to take theirs. It's an interesting thought process that should really be reconsidered.
Just realized I said "countless" quite a bit...Meh.
not to mention the several hundred thousand dollars of school loans that doctors have to pay back once they start working.
the reason we have the best medical in the world is because it is privatized.
when the most important people from any country (even countries with free medical) get ill they come to america to get treatment.
but under the new obama care we can expect to become second rate at best.
Medical Care will never be free in this country and the reason for that is there is way to much money for it to be. The government gets way to many kick backs for that to happen.
Medical care can never be free. Its impossible because the money to pay them has to come from somewhere and it would be taxes
