10PJJ East Coast Camp:8 Man Winners S.Yockel(Rochester) & J.Doherty(Peterborough)

Day 1 was unbelievable, we had over 50 people on the mats! Stewart Laundry started the day off with the Superman/Binding Guard Passes, that included passes to the Mount, Twister Side Control, Truck, Butterfly Passes, etc.

I taught the second session sharing The Ghost escape to sprawl control, M'arce, Butterfly Guard, Back and the Truck.

The 8 Man Submission Only tournament was super energetic as our Nibiru Warriors went to battle against each other! We had some awesome back and forth matches, displaying some serious skill! We had to make some last minute adjustments to the line up as we had some late injuries, and drop outs, but it did nothing to squash the level of excitement of the matches.

We did the old name in the hat method to draw the brackets right before it started, the only rule was no one from the same moon in the first round.

Scott Yockel (Rochester) defeated Huan Chen (Rochester) in the under 155 finals and Jeff Doherty (Peterborough) defeated Sarkis Matossian (Rochester) in the over 155 finals.

I can't share with you how awesome the event has been so far, I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am.

We have representatives from moons all over the North America: Montreal, St. Paul, Decatur, Peterborough, Hartford, Charlotte, Rochester. Not to mention the crew from the Miami Hotbox, and Ronins from all over as well. We are all ready brain storm next years event, and looking to add a full tournament and bump it to 2x a year!

Really looking forward to today’s events. Today we have Louis Ho, Brandon Mccaghren, Mike Seabrook and Jon Helton. The best way to sum up this weekend so far is "Fuck Yeah"!

Congrats guys! Wish Indy could of made this one. Next year for sure...

Yesterday was alot of fun. I really like the superman pass / binding pass into the truck. All of the matches were exciting. Congrats to everyone who went out there and busted their ass.

This weekend was amazing to say the least. Looking forward to the pics and vids. I can't wait until the next one. Not trying to be over dramatic about it, but I really feel like I was part of a little piece of history. Can't believe it was only $50 for all that material.

Day 2 was just as awesome as Day 1:

Today we started of with Louis Ho teaching some slick stuff from buttefly guard, sweeps, subs, etc. and also some of his top game.

Brandon Mccaghren gave us his take on the Monoplata, transitions, set ups, submission, etc.

Then we recived a few techniques from Scott Yockel and Jon Helton as well, followed by some open rolling.

I can't srtess how amazing this weekend was and how much positive energy was flowing through the gym. 10th Planet peeps are the best people on the planet! Thanks to all of those that made sacrifices to come in and be apart of this event. We are allready discussing the next one!

Had a great time :) thanks for the positive feed back. Yokel was great finishing everyone definitively and well under the time limit (lookin forward to training in Rochester with you boys again soon, too close for me not to get off my ass more often and visit). Real proud of my protege Jeff, too lazy to cut weight lol, gave up a ton of weight in 2 matches, but all solid wins (Sorry bout the old man comment in the finals :) lol). Cant wait to see the next one :)

Had One kick ass weekend !!!!!!!! But I have to say went away kinda bumming. It was awesome being around that much talent in the 10PJJ system, but went away depressed because I can't train like that all the time.

I train at a Gracie school so not alota 10th planet stuff going on there. I use it as much as I can, while doing open mat. Guys come to me to show them, when they see the stuff that works doing my rolls.(which is pretty scary in its self, because I suck !!!) There isn't a guy in our gym that doesn't use lock down or a twister side control at some point in most every roll they do because of it. I feel like I'm a crack dealer because we are always sneaking around talking about it and doing it when nobody is looking.:) I guess my point is makes it really rough to drill 10PJJ stuff like I should. The past 2 days showed me how much I am really missing out on. :(

The worst is, I saw some stuff the last 2 days, I really feel are game changers for me!!!! I feel like I want to totally rework how I compete. I have felt like this for a while. Like the things I do while I compete ( even though give me wins), don't feel like my path.
I walked out feeling like everything I saw the last to days was designed with me in mind. I was right thinking 10th planet was for me the first time I met Eddie a few years back. I feel like I have been pushed away from it by people around the last year or so. The ammo they use," Conner you don't need it look how many wins your racking up, just train hard with what we show you." I need to push back. I know this system is for me.

So what do I do ???? I started by bugging my dad the whole way home, to start getting me down as much as I can to train with coach Zog. But is that going to be enough? I really feel I want to start all over on my jitz game. So did I make a huge leap forward the last 2 days or a huge step back...... so confused my head is going to explode.lol

Awesome two days of training! Lots of new stuff to try. Can't wait to start trying it in the gym.

Train as much as you can with Zog, and see what happens. Youre young you have plenty of time to make a lot of things happen. Head up Conner.

No need to apologize for what I say myself on a daily basis; if I looked unhappy, it is only because I was looking across the mat at what was coming at me. Jeff demonstrated some great skills (considering that we was beating up on a senior citizen ;-) ) in all his matches. A well deserved victory.

What an awesome freaking event! I had such a great time.

I want to thank all of the instructors who shared their knowledge with us.
I'd also like to thank everyone one came. What a great Jiu Jitsu family to be a part of. Just a giant room filled with cool people!
And thank you coach Herzog for having crazy ideas and making them happen!

I can't wait for the next one. Being a ronin, this was like finding a long lost family!

I have to admit, I went into this weekend assuming that there may be one or two really good instructors, and several mediocre ones. I say in all sincerity, I would not classify any instructor I saw this weekend and anything but really good; I was truly impressed.

I picked up at least one technique that I intend to add to my game plan from every instructor, and in several cases, entire series. I was also surprised and impressed that not only did they have some great Jiu Jitsu skills, but their coaching technique was top-notch also. You can definitely tell that all of these guys have been teaching for a while.

Thank you Coach Herzog for organizing this, and thank you to all of the instructors and students who made the pilgrimage to Rochester NY.

Thanks everybody for the props and yes I can make 155 with some serious dieting and cutting... not sure now though as I've put on a lot of muscle mass. Back on track though, I had a lot of fun grappling with the guys in my division and some definite challenges!!

I am so proud of my east coast family for coming together for the love of the game and for 10p, I gotta make the next one for sure!! :)

I know I already said this on your facebook page Jeff, but congratulations to you, brother. Congrats to all the Nibiru winners. I wish I could have come to watch, but I was committed to riding a bunch of crazy-ass roller coasters with my wife and kids at Cnada's wonderland!

The event was more than I could have asked for. I'm just bummed that we had to jet a little early on Sunday. It was truly a pleasure to meet so many 10th Planet brothers and I can't wait until the next one :). Big thanks to Coach Herzog and Rochester for hosting the event!

Yeah that's what I was thinking bro. You look like you have a lot of lean muscle. That'd be impressive if you could cut down to 155. BTW, serious question: where'd you get those pants? They were pretty dope.

Thanks Coach Herzog, It was a great weekend, so much fun competing against the guys from the other schools, I havent competed in a long time and it was a great way to knock the rust off!

First off congrads to Rob on the blue belt! I wanted to say thank you to everyone that came I had a great time meeting everyone. Sorry I didn't get a chance to roll. Ill make up for it next time. I thought the stuff we covered was great, a lot of it fit right into my style. Lastly Jeff, you looked great man you had a nice tournament. Can't wait for the next one!

Yeah i agree with the rolling, was just hard to do saturday with the 8man, and having to rush out to scotts party. And everyone was either shot or had to leave to travel home on sunday. we'll figure it out for the next one. I'm thinking Octoberish.

Where we thinkin for the next venue?

I'm down with another one in Rochester. It's actually really bad for me distance-wise, but I think it's a good midpoint for a lot of people.

Well the Seminar instruction has paid off. Coach Landry brought the Ghost escape to the Peterborough Moon and we got to rep it in a couple variations for most of the class last night. It's a great escape, and very smooth. Easy to pull off in practice. I will need more reps with it before I probably manage to pull it off in a live roll, but it feels smooth and applicable.
