My lower back is feeling like total shit. It's been like that for a while now. I just stretch like a SOB and take Celebrex so that I can still move around. I was wondering if anybody had a chiro do the COX technique and what it felt like. Thanks.

Where I walk with a limp my spine is a little crooked at the base. I'm not sure if what I had done was the COX method, but what the chiro did was loosen all my muscles up and then he used this little hand held impact gun to hit a bunch of spots all over my back, lower legs, and neck. It felt ok for a while right after I had it done but it was hurting again in no time.
done Chiro before. never COX tech though.
good luck!

Ive been to a couple Chiro's Im not sure if its exactly COX branded but my new Chiro uses the same or similar table. He uses it after the TENS session to stretch my lower back before adjustments. Basically I lay face down and then he releases something that makes the lower half of the table be able to move. He presses his hand on certain spots on my back while using the table to swing my legs down and side to side. But I think rom searching the COX method is more about decompression therapy. A buddy who recommended my current Chiro to me gets decompression therapy and it gives him relief but Im not sure if its the COX method.
As for the ipmact gun that is totally different. Its just a tool that replaces a lot of manipulation techniques of adjustment. I had that before and liked it. Especially when getting it on the neck. I imagine people who are freaked out about having their neck adjusted would much rather have the impact tool instead. I stopped going to the Chiro that used that tool becuase he was an overpriced wacko on some of his treatments.
Nosaj, yes the moving table is the COX method. I'm curious what it felt like. Did you find it helped?
I think so in a whole package of treatment. Here is what my guy does to me: First is like 10 minutes on TENs therapy. I love that and even have one at home. Then I go in a room and get the big vibrator massage all over my back. Then he puts his hand on a few spots on my back and releases the lower half of the table. He lowers my legs the swings them side to side. Then back up then down and moves them again with is hand on a different part of the back. I never asked but its just a stretch that decompresses the spine too. With the TENs, massage, and then this the muscles are pretty loose. Then he adjusts me. Feels great.
As far as effectiveness I say its great. I cam into his office in bad shape (3 nights before I could barely walk) 3 weeks later of 3 times a week sessions and i started training at 10thp :). i did twice a week for two weeks then once a week for two weeks and now I just go when I feel like it. I felt fine last month and dint go.
I drink at least 75oz of water a day and stretch all the time to keep it loose though.
Thanks Nosaj. :)
The best part about my new Chiro is when I went in I had hurt it rolling with my brother. We talked about wrestling/jits for a bit and then he goes "you know there is a ton of stuff you can learn on youtube... there is this guy Eddie Bravo his stuff is awesome" LOL I knew I was in the right place.
I can't believe how many amazing jokes there are in this thread.
I have been to a couple different chiros and havent seen much improvement. The dude who needs to chime in is Zog. Im pretty sure he lives at the chiro office based on the amount of visits he has had.
^^ Thats a good point in my opinion I think Chiro generally only fixes temporary injuries. When I have gotten my neck tweaked by a good punch or a crank my neck can be stiff for over a week. Go to the chiro and its fixed in a few seconds. My wife though has disk issues in her neck and the Chiro doesnt do shit for her long term.

Please do NOT visit any chiro offering the "Cox" method! The only legit Cox method involves smoking reefers and you don't want any of this Dewey! :-)
