As someone who is related to a neurologist... let me shed some light on this.
Believe it or not, Marijuana can and has done this to people. But here's the catch. 99.5 percent of us can enjoy marijuana. However, in people who have developed or shown symptoms of schizophrenia can be turned into Axe Crazy Maniac's. This is due to the THC's major role in acting in the same area of the brain that coordinates Schizo episodes, meaning the THC can be a catalyst to a major meltdown... like this.
Dont get me wrong I have nothing against mary J. This is literally a 100,000 to 1 kind of case. But... you wont hear the politicians saying that. Also, look up the movie Reefer Madness. A 1950's propoganda movie about weed. Its so off base with reality its almost funny.

Never in my life have I seen weed make anyone violent. Yea, maybe attack a bag of chips violent but not chew a guys face off violent. If THC was all he had in his system then he had some mental issues already. As far as the schizophrenic thing goes I'm not fully buying that either. My uncle was diagnosed with that & he smokes. It actually helps him calm down & relax better than his pills they give him. So you also cant lump that group in there either.
Hell, remember when they would try to tell you in DARE that a joint was as bad as a whole pack of cigs, LOL. Funny cause I have friends who smoke cigs and not pot that cant run to the end of the driveway without passing out much less grapple for an hour. Yet somehow I manage just fine and I smoke all through the day every day. Is it true it can effect people differently, of course. But effect them to the point of eating a guys face off, I dont see that being possible. Something else played into that but I agree, anti-pot people are gonna use this for ammo. Funny they put so much effort into this & not other things currently legal that kill thousands yearly.

Now lets say this person is also a natural extrovert, they tend not to over analyze things in words, tend to just live in the moment etc. When you smoke weed with a low tolerance you can get VERY high, and im sure we've all observed the occasional person have a legitimate panic attack from it (like those videos like of the cop who thought he ewas going to die etc). At this point they are getting an adrenaline dump, their body temperature is rising very fast, their thoughts are scattered and non concurrent due to the situation let ALONE the intoxication, and upon that, they are now living inside an internal monologue in their mind about it and whats going on, instead of just experiencing their reality. Now how often do you think of weird shit and are overly creative when high? all the time? Becuase weed stimulates the areas of your brain that make you creative, which as weve covered is the same as skitzophrenia, the differnce being most people can tell those crazy thoughts are just that, crazy thoughts; But what if your mental health is poor overall, your mental willpower and resolution to make determinations of whats actually real or just an impulse is weak, and your experiencing an extreme panic attack while your VERY disoriented from the intoxication and adrenaline, confussion, anxiety etc.. Now for this person to attack someone is no longer such an extreme leap to conclude as opposed from the image of a pothead sitting in his basement smoking weed... But let's be real, in this situation, the person is already the powder keg bomb -- weed is only the match lighting it, there are 1000 other substances that do so including many of which are prescribed to people with mental issues, if this guy did only do weed, he would of been alot worse on bath salts.
There is even a specific gene they have singled out as being present in the DNA of MORE THAN HALF of ALL schizophrenic patients that is NOT present in many people, and in most cases where there is not a history of mental illness in the family, this gene IS NOT PRESENT in the DNA of family members preceding the troubled individual, and in families with histories of mental illness, is commonly found in one of the parents, showing that the permutation can occur seemingly at random into the next generation.
The bottom line is there is MANY variables responsible in these situations, and people want to lock down and focus on one, turn it into a black and a white issue which results in lack of understanding and ignorance. The media doesn't care and is going to print whatever going to make the biggest wave among the masses...

I disagree. The reason the reference to Bath Salts is in quotations is because "Bath salts" is a street/slang name for the drug, not an official name.Quote:

If you read on, you will see that they put all references to bath salts in quotations.

Two completely different drugs. Salvia is on a whole different level than pot. It can cause you to see things & trip almost like acid. The synthetic pot they speak of is also known as spice. They have been cracking down on that stuff for a while, usually its sold at little hole in the wall gas stations cause technically its not pot & doesnt contain THC, it has synthetic man made drugs on it that cause the high.Quote:

WOW, thats some potentially dangerous stuff to be selling over the counter. I remember an article I read about it once & it was enough to make me wanna avoid it & stick to good ol' regular pot. The guys in the article I read actually made a trip to South America to try it out in a traditional sense & according to them traditionally only a local shaman could give you some if that tells you anything. They also talked about it making the locals unhappy people were discovering it & abusing it like they are now cause its best used in a controlled setting.Quote:
