Just wondering what the percentage is of people that wear Gi pants in competition. I'm getting ready for a tourny that's in September and have been mostly wearing my shorts this summer although i prefer my Gi pants as that i get better traction for lock-down and other stuff. So I'm more than likely gonna be switching back so i'm used to them for the tournament but was wondering for No-Gi matches what do you guys prefer and why.
A bunch of people wear them. I train in shorts with no ankle or knee sleeve to develop my control without the extra traction. I wear knee sleeve and ankle sleeve in comp and get crazy control with them on. To each their own.
Yea i havent had a chance to compete with my Gi pants yet was training in them until it got super hot at the gym and switched to shorts and a knee sleeve. Deff gonna be using the pants at comp cause i like the extra traction plus i have the 10th planet patch on there to rep :)
I would love to wear Gi pants when I roll, but my legs sweat so much that they would be completely soaked to the point I wouldn't be able to move. So I will have to stick to shorts.

gi pants make me feel more stiff from the knees down so i use shorts the only issue ive ever had from shorts is having your legs full of sweat from you and another player after a grueling roll
if you wear pants and ankle sleeves in training you get to work WAY more 1/4 guard, lockdown half, rubber guard and more truck. If you work these positions more in practice you get better faster :)Quote:

Only thing about GI pants in competition is that in a NAGA tournament ur opponent may grab your GI pants if you choose to wear them. Happened to one of my teammates last year. Not sure if other tournaments are like that. I won't wear them in comp.
