I've got no one to practice Jiu Jitsu with at all! All I've been doing is watching MTS, and taking as much notes as possible. I've looked for BJJ schools, but all of them are either out of the City, or WAY on the other side of it, I think I'm stuck without mat time...Any idea's? :(
Grappling dummy or networking on social media or set a budget up so it's possible to make the commute if you don't drive then revert to tips 1 and 2. :)
You gotta get a grappling dummy. Unresisted reps aren't the best but better than nothing!
Thanks man, this may sound bad, but I use a big ass tree stump as a grappling dummy, it has no arms, but is roughly around the same size as my torso, and actually has something of legs, I might post a pic if anyone is interested in taking a gander at a ghetto, "Bubba Gracie". First time it scratched the shit out of my arms (So I guess you can say it fights back), but I put my old Karate Gi on it, and now it has sleeve arms, so it won't cut me up, and I practice......Something on it?...Can't really practice much, but usually I'll just run though the Rubber Guard basics on it, and its heavy enough to toss around, but I really just want to get in some good mat time with a real person.Quote:

I've got something of a ghetto grappling dummy...Its actually an old tree stump the shape of a torso with no arms, and it doesn't really have legs....Just thighs....So if I was randomly attacked by an armless Vietnam vet, I'm pretty sure I'd be use to the encounter.. I can't really practice much, but the RG basics...I have a bunch of spair wood, and 2x4 and honestly am thinking of 'building' a grappling dummy, but I don't know if that'll be such a good idea..Quote:

I'd work on stretching also... I think stretching is extremely important for jiu jitsu.. So once you join a school one day you will already have fantastic flexibility.
Put an ad in craigslist for a glory hole rendezvous and then go full Marcelo on the dude when he shows up to your bathroom stall. Don't worry, as long as you don't injure him he probably won't call the cops on you since it would embarrass him, his family, and the public school board that employs him.

If you're looking to put together a grappling dummy on the cheap: a Salvation Army thrift shop pair of Carhart coveralls stuffed with rags, and speed bag for a head is really cheap way to go.
