The local news came out to do a story on our kids program. It was about bullying. We used the Harris family because their kids are small. All the boys are competitive and competiting this weekend in Oklahoma city NAGA. We are very proud of all our kids. The parents love the 10th planet system for the schools and bullying!

Both gyms I go to have kids programs. THe one gym takes the class full circle, if you are not doing well in school (grades and behavior) you are not allowed to come to the gym until the grades improve. The guy running the program makes the kids bring in their report cards. The only mixed emotion I have with kids mma is this, kids are kids (not adults) and they tend to act irrationally/emotionally at times. Now they act irrationally/emotionally with serious training and skill sets..
Ive seen adults act irrationally/emotionally as well. Its in the nature of the sport. Ive asked my boys if they would like to try other sports, but jiu jitsu& wrestling are the only sports they show interest in.its not like im throwing them in an mma cage against their will.lol. They only compete in jiu jitsu & its something THEY want to do. Just so happens to be a great self defense tool as well.
Watch out you don't want the anyone claiming you stole there bullyproof idea and just renamed what they had been doing for years.

The kids at Sherman are a great group! Mike takes all of his classes seriously and wants the absolute best for his students so its a no brainer that his Kids Program is Awesome :-) Congrats on the story Brochacho i'm excited to visit my sherman people again soon.

I have two things to say about this: 1. When it comes to kids, generally speaking, teaching them a martial art actually reduces conflict. It's the same way that teaching your kids firearm safety reduces gun accidents. Kids will be kids and kids will fight. But when a kid knows how to fight, they realize that they can seriously hurt someone and that's not to be taken lightly. So it seems that kids are more confident because they know HOW. The confidence is a deterrent to bullies. And the kids avoid fights because they know they can really hurt someone so they only use it when necessary. 2nd, make sure the parents aren't the type to look for trouble and the kid won't be either.Quote:

I agree. If the instructor is responsible in how and what they teach Martial Arts helps prevent bullying and street fights for most kids. That was a great video spot and looks like an awesome program! So cool for 10th planet. We do a regular monthly "bully week" at our school and even have a "Bully Game" for the younger kids that teaches non-violent ways to deal with bullies, then the slightly older kids get more hands on training. I also agree besides just a self-defense class or seminar(which is great) , enrolling your child in a regular class is the best! Especially for kids- they need to have these moves be second nature to be able to use them is a stressful situation and Jiu-Jitsu is all hands on, practical and can be non-violent if needed. We hav'ent had any problems with our kids being aggressive towards any other children. The mma is slightly modified for the kids, the sparring is limited to keep everyone happy and healthy. The 5:30 slot in our schedule is the peak of my day!
