Gogoplata in MMA and The Frodoplata.

Been trying to get in touch with Eddie Bravo through this site but reckon he's a busy man! :)

Just wanted to say im a huge fan of the 10p system, been working the techniques for some years now since i first came across the Mastering the Rubber guard DVD. Been following the 10p evolution ever since. I startet out wrestling as a kid and went on to kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga and Shootfighting later on, im now on my way in to the Pro MMA scene after competing in small Amateur and Semi-Pro events in England the last couple of years. MMA is not legal her in Norway so we have to travel to compete, witch is fine. I had my Pro MMA debut now over in England and landed a Gogoplata from the rubber guard in the first round of the fight. The guy i was fighting came out of a tradisional BJJ/muay thai gym and i dont even think he knew the rubberguard at all. anyway, im running my own MMA classes her in Bergen, Norway and been teaching for several years now alongside my own training under different clubs. I'm currently a blackbelt within traditional martial art(not 10th Planet), but since i found the 10th Planet system i've been focusing on that for my groundgame in MMA and overall Jiu Jitsu training, and of course it kills!!!;)

The other thing i wanted to show you is a sub setup from the Rubber Guard that i have not seen in any 10p videos yet. Its a counter sub against the gogoplata defence and i've had huge succsess with it in sparring for now. As i have not seen it in any of the 10p videos i've taken the liberty to name it The Frodoplata, hehe..

My grappeling dummy there is a beginner in the 10p system, and he did not know the gogo defence so it looks kinda to easy. I've got this in on good grapplers in sparring several times when they go to defend the gogo! ;)

Anyway, 10th Planet is King, hope to one day open the first 10th Planet Norway affiliate!!

Nice work! I've seen something very similar to this choke on youtube before. I wonder how high a percentage submisson this is in its self. Maybe a good option when ur in between double bag and gogo. Kind of like when eddie and manny were rolling. Another path could be jiu claw or double arm triangle?

On the frodo plata (awesome by the way) if a guy lacks flexibility, do you think it's possible to use a gable grip short choke variation? I'm thinking, go under your foot like you did to lift the chin and get your shin under the chin, but instead of reaching all the way around and using the RNC grip, just gable grip your hands...then instead of squeezing with the RNC grip, you pull with the gable and kick with the shin. In my head I'm imagining it would be tight and effective. No?

I"m also thinking that you might be able to finish the choke without the shin under the chin since the gable chokes one side of the neck and the shin chokes the other side. Does this sound legit or am I just brainstorming out my ass?

I guess you can, but don't think it will be that tight or give you the same power in the technique thou, and also think it would be way easier to defend and escape!! just try it and see if it works out for you! ;)

Yes, you can finish this without the shin under the chin, thats the great thing with this one! It works for people with short legs also if they just get their leg/foot in front of the opponents face, but it do require flexibility thou! It's in the description on the video! ;)

Dude, life is insane for me right now, can barely keep up with emails, I finally watched the frodoplata video, it looks mad legit but can't say for sure til I hit it a few times in sparring, but I'm thinking it's gonna pass the test and make it into the system officially, I'm hoping anyways! Way to rep Frode! :-)

tried it out tonight and DAMN is that tight. felt a bt like the sorcerer when u have to put practically no effort in to it. definitly coming into my game. i think frodoplata will eventually be my go to since gogo is already a fave of mine. :D cheers man.

how often do u get guys with this while rolling? anyone found a decent defense for it except not getting caught in it in the first place?

I finished the Frodoplata tonight. It's so tight! I end up in that position a lot so I see it becoming a staple of my RG. Thanks Frode! :D

I've been doing something similar to the frodoplata for a little bit, but instead of figure-fouring with your right arm to left bicep like in the frodoplata, I like to figure-four my left arm to right bicep around the back of the head to get a choke and a neck crank. I can try to get a video of it up if anyone is interested in a visual.

Yea, iv done that to, works great!! :)
