Will 10th Planet come to San Jose?
When you put in the hard work and make it happen!
Denny is right down the road :)
I agree that 10th planet needs a school in San Jose. A good number of high level players have schools here and the SJSU Judo program is world renowned. I am totally supportive of having San Jose be a hub for for JJ of all kinds.
1st thing I guess, someone who can teach needs to step up and commit, then a location has to be found, etc. I am no expert on the subject but I assume it also takes a good bit of $ to start up. In this economic climate, it seems there are few willing to take that risk. I was surprised when I didnt see a hotbox in the SJ area even.
Until then I'll read the books, watch the vids, try stuff in no gi class and try to hit up 10th planet SF and HQ when the wife & I make our yearly trip to the LA area in April.
Pretty simple. Denny is the best. Someone could open a 10th planet in San Jose, and it probably would be pretty good, but it wouldn't be Denny. I used to drive 45 minutes to get there, with no traffic 75 minutes with traffic and it is worth it.
Personally I would focus less on trying to figure out a school in SJ than I would about figuring out how to get to S.F. every week. It really isn't that far to get there from sj.
If you want 10th Planet in the bay area go to Denny.
Problem solved
While I agree with everyone in regards to the quality of instruction available at 10th planet SF and I try to train there when my schedule allows, honestly, the commute is a bitch from San Jose. Especially if you work a schedule that puts you on the road to SF between 4pm & 7 pm M-F because it can take 60-90 minutes just in traffic. BART is about the same when you consider that it takes about 45 minutes to get to the closest BART station (in Fremont on 880 traffic)and another 45 minutes to get to SF on the actual train. I can get to pretty much any area of SJ in about 20 minutes tops.
I don't argue at all about the quality but when you are forced to live by a tight schedule, with family to consider, closer is better.
