My fight from 10/13/12 was a loss - video

This is what happens when you forget to keep your head tight to the body when reaching for something to pull on. You get Marcelotined. My fault. Rookie mistake, but I guess thats what amateur fights are for. I would love to post a million excuses for my loss, but it doesnt really matter now. Just lessons learned.Hopefully you guys can learn from my oops... Wasnt gonna post it, but the organization posted the fights on youtube, so here it is.

Got in the same position as my last fight. Gotta put some time into the details of that position

I'm not an expert in anything, but it looked like you controlled him on the ground for the first two rounds. Looks like you just wound up in a bad position shortly after a knock down. **not familiar with your state's amateur rules **

I was interested in your striking style, you seemed to have the reach but allowed him to close the gap on you. Seemed to happen when you switched to that side stance. Did you come from a traditional martial arts background?

Hahaha! Dude acted like he dominated which clearly wasn't the case. I saw a couple missed opportunities for carni but damned fine job. Aliens don't die, they multiply!

Dude, first off props for even getting in the cage. And 2nd, you're exactly right. That's what ammy fights are for. Just like rolling before a competition. Just like smaller competitions before you get to bigger competitions. You did well. You made a mistake. You learned. And you'll be back smarter than before.

I only did the backwards stance early on in the fight. I just accidentally let him close the gap with my hand down. Might have gone sideways by accident. I was not letting my hands go enough in the stand up all fight. Theres a bunch of stuff Im still trying to transfer from my sparring into the fight that I didnt do, so I cant really go into detail too much. I did do Kung Fu years ago but the only thing I use from it is the kicks and exercises. Saving a couple of the legit stuff I learned for the future when I have to change things up a little. When I use everything Ive been working on its gonna look crazy. Getting there bit by bit. Have to remind myself that I changed my stand up style before the fight.

Got greedy on 1 of the Carne attempts. Should of taken the sweep instead of trying to force the sub

I wish I could get a fight with someone who will strike with me. Fought nothing but grapplers so far. Losing sucks but as a striker, I feel much more comfortable losing by sub than by getting beat up. I lost my last 2 fights by submission. You did really well, only thing I will say is believe in yourself in there. The X factor in fighting is believing in what you can do. Don't taper off anything worrying about what your opponent might do. Watch him and act accordingly. From your movements and stance you seem to be pretty comfortable striking. Or at least you've got steez. Trust yourself and know you can do everything you've trained to do.

Yeah dude you were doing really well most of the fight. Just keep training hard and let this lose fuel you! Big props for getting in the cage man you're exactly where I want to be in a year.

Dude, holy fuck, you almost had that arm bar on him around 7:10, and you just about had him with the Oma Plata at around 8:10.
I have NO DOUBTS that he was saved by the bell at 8:59.

I am no MMA fighter but I am a striker, and I will say that you got a little too lax with your hand defense in round three. If you watch that round from the start, you will see that you are keeping your hands low the entire time. I was just about to pause the video to comment on that, and then you took a shot to the jaw. I believe you wouldn't have taken that shot if you had your hands up more diligently.

imho, you were the more dominant fighter in rounds 1 and 2, but you let your guard down in round 3, and that jaw shot rocked you pretty good. Amazing fight bro, and I would be proud of it if I were you!
