im in north west philadelphia and ive heard one explosion and prob 6 fire engines since 3 oclock east coast time. i have the police/fire radio app and everything is mayhem, i tried to listen to nyc and it was nonstop, and w/ the accent i understood half of it
I'm right outside of D.C. and all is good here. The storm was way overhyped!
tell that to the people in nyc and nj...nyu hospital lost power and was evacuated, coney island hospital is on fire and fire dept cant get to it, some crazy amount of blocks are flooded to the point where one person said they havent seen it like that before, battery park is flooded higher than the past record dating back to 1812. ive been listening to the police/fire scanner on my phone and everything is crazy
NYC is almost flooding all the time even with no rain. It was built over swamp land with small rivers and lakes. If they lose power all they have is diesel powered pumps to pump out all that water. It almost flooded on 9/11 when they lost power and they didn't even have any rain. So I can imagine it could get very bad. Just saw a picture of the ground zero construction site being flooded. Hope Marcelo's new place doesn't get flooded... Again.
Life Sucks On Long Island, but We're Getting by!! We're NYorkers .. My Job has power and internet .. so most importantly .. i was able to purchase my copy of mastering the twister .. haha ..
over 800,000 people still without power part of LI have been evacuated. Drinking, Showering water in long beach contaminated. Fire Island has been historically changed.. The entire island was breached with water.
We're on in the area of MA I'm in, a few people still without power but looks overall we escaped ok....praise God....
Im glad to see you guys are at least getting by.
Hey George, I'm glad that your area of DC is doing well, but please don't say that this storm was overhyped. We are without power, food, drinking water, internet, any way to wash our clothes. The gas stations are all closed because they are either out of gas or cannot pump the gas they have without power. People are looting and syphoning eachothers gas. The grocery stores are out of food. They're pulling bodies out of the water in the middle of neighborhoods. The Jersey shore that I grew up on is gone. Seaside, the Boardwalk and rides, homes and businesses along the shore........gone. Swept up and smashed into another. It's a warzone here, man. I know your post was a few days ago now, but I just now was able to even get cell.service to check on the rest of my family and get on the internet.
If anyone's interested, donations of $10 can be made to the Red Cross through text messaging the words "Red Cross" to 90999. There is no credit card or personal information to give. You will get a text back asking to confirm your donation and your cell service provider simply ads the $10 to your cell phone bill. Doesn't get much easier than that. Hope everyone is staying safe out there. -Jp
