ttt!
Here is the article.
"A mysterious shiny object floating high over Manhattan's West Side set off a flurry of reports and wild speculation Wednesday that a UFO was flying over the city.
Police and the FAA said they began getting flooded with calls starting at 1:30 p.m. from people reporting a silvery object hovering high over Chelsea.
Law enforcement sources said they believed the object was likely some sort of balloon, but as of late Wednesday they had not confirmed exactly what it is.
A Daily News reporter could see a tiny, silver dot floating approximately 5,000 feet above 23th St. and Eighth Ave., where dozens of people gathered late in the afternoon to catch a glimpse.
"It's been hovering there for a while. I'm just kind of baffled," said Joseph Torres, 49, of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, who spotted the object after leaving a movie. "How can it be ordinary? There is something going on."
Despite clear skies, it was not easy to make out the tiny object shimmering overhead.
"You really have to look up to see it," said one witness, who gave only his first name, Rico. "It's a little crazy. I guess that's why they call it an unidentified flying object because they don't know what it is."
Not long after the first sightings, messages began appearing on Twitter linking to a month-old press release announcing the publication of a book by a retired NORAD officer predicting that UFOs would buzz the earth's major cities on Oct. 13.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it received several calls to its operations center but after reviewing radar data, the agency could not find anything out of the ordinary.
"We re-ran radar to see if there was anything there that we can't account for but there is nothing in the area," said spokesman Jim Peters. "There was some helicopter traffic over the river at that time and we checked with LaGuardia Tower. And they said they had nothing going low at that time."
"Nothing that we can account for would prompt this kind of response," he said.
Peters said if it was a weather balloon or any kind of organized balloon release, authorities should have been notified in advance. Police officials said they had received no notification."
Anybody who knows me at all knows I'm I pretty big skeptic when it comes to conspiracy theories, UFOs, and things like that BUT... I find it a little creepy that along with this came the most unbelievable display of chemtrails/contrails I have ever seen (here in Rochester; admittedly a long way from NYC but not by air.). I flew as a medic for six years in the Air Force and I have never seen anything like the trails I saw on my way in to work late this morning. There were new ones and ones that had clearly been there for quite a while that just seemed to hang and expand forever until they formed basically a cirrus cloud. I watched them the whole 45min drive to work. It's the first time I've ever been bothered by "fake clouds in the sky." I genuinely believe that *most* of the trails we see in the sky are normal exhaust from very hot gases condensing in a very cold atmosphere. But the trails I saw this morning were just waaaaaay too weird for me and if I were to try and defend them as mere contrails I don't know that I could believe any of my own arguments.

About 2 dozen of these through out the day yesterday, some lasted over 4 hrs.
BTW I heard the NYC ufo were balloons.
I tried fixing the vid for you, but it didn't work so i just added the link.
Thanks coach. I wasn't sure if it worked and for some reason I could watch it from msnbc.com but couldn't see if it posted correctly. Gotta love the media fire wall at work.
i don't think they were balloons , if so , i want some , theres always been a ufo coverup
By balloons I wasn't referring to the kind BoBo the clown uses to make poodles or rattlesnakes with, I was referring to the ones that are used for atmospheric data collection and weather balloons. I'm a huge ufo/conspiracy buff, but I gotta call shenanigans on this one.
An unidentified flying object (UFO) forced Xiaoshan Airport in Hangzhou, China to cease operations on July 7. A flight crew preparing for descent first detected the object around 8:40 p.m. and notified the air traffic control department. Aviation authorities responded within minutes, grounding outbound flights and diverting inbound ones to airports in Ningbo and Wuxi.
Eighteen flights were affected. Though normal operations resumed an hour later, the incident captured the attention of the Chinese media and sparked a firestorm of speculation on the UFO's identity.
"It is a hidden U.S. bomber flying toward China," one Internet user wrote on Monday. Another wrote on Sunday night, "In my opinion, the UFO is neither a U.S. missile nor a Russian satellite. Suggestions that it is extraterrestrial are even more preposterous. Everyone, use your head. This is clearly a man-made phenomenon. Would the U.S. or Russia risk provoking China's anger by firing a missile or satellite rocket in Chinese skies, without warning? I believe the Chinese military is responsible for the UFO. It is a new missile or aircraft being tested out."

Fueling speculations further, Hangzhou residents released photos, taken in the afternoon before the delays, of a hovering object bathed in golden light and exhibiting a comet-like tail. Less than an hour before the Xiaoshan airport shut down, residents said they also saw a flying object emitting red and white rays of light.
Resident Ma Shijun was taking a nighttime stroll with his wife when he saw the object.
"I felt a beam of light over my head. Looking up, I saw a streak of bright, white light flying across the sky, so I picked up the camera and took the photo. The time was 8:26 p.m. However, whether the object was a plane, or whether it was Xiaoshan Airport's UFO, I don't have a clear answer," Ma told the Xinhua news agency.
The photos taken by Hangzhou residents may be unrelated to the UFO that shut down Xiaoshan Airport. According to Hangzhou meteorological authorities, residents in the afternoon probably saw light reflecting off of an airplane. As for Ma's nighttime photo, Beijing Planetarium curator Zhu Jing told Xinhua that the object looks just like a plane shining its strobe lamps.
However the recent sighting in China is deffiantly the classic deffinition of the term UFO. Whether its topic secret govement/military machine thats being tested or something other than "ours" who knows.

One thing is for sure, whatever aliens are visiting us are vastly ahead of us technologically speaking, yet they are freaking retarded. They can shut off our nukes but they keep forgetting that they don't need lights to move their spacecraft without bumping into things. They show up, freak people out and then they leave without introducing themselves. They haven't realized that they don't actually have to bring their flying saucers to earth to do anything that an alien visiting our planet might want to do.
You aliens hear me? You should, I'm putting it on the internet. If you guys can turn off our nukes, I'm betting yall can use teh interwebz.
You're all retarded. Quit crashing your spacecraft on our planet, turn off the intergalactic bling and turn on the infrared parking lights if you absolutely must monitor us. Human beings can't see that spectrum of light, remember? You get the discovery channel right? And don't waste so much energy getting your spacecraft in and out of our planet's gravitational pull. There's an energy crisis going on down here in case you forgot. Hey and while you're at it, why don't you help us out with that. Jerks.
lol I love Carol Sagan.. reminded me of the fermi paradox.. everyone just kills themselves off the same way we will :P also in high school our teacher would always show us episodes of cosmos... if it didn't put you to sleep it was awesome.. he was high like 24/7
Btw, anyone that loves this thread should play The Conduit. As skeptical as I am, that game gets my conspiracy mind buzzing....

Could be ET. Although, I think it is the Chinese. Fucking Chinese are power crazed, smart as fuck and very, very pissed off. Keep in mind these are the people that went to the trouble to build the biggest fence in the history of history. After that stunt they pulled a few weeks ago all I can think about right now when I read a UFO story is "China is going to rape us".
