I am finally making my return to BJJ competition this weekend after 6 years. This has been a long time coming, and honestly I've been putting it off for a little while now. I finally decided to just go for it since there are 2 local tournaments this weekend. I didn't think I'd get nervous but it has been so long and a lot has happened since my last tournament. I just keep telling myself this is only the first step and regardless of the outcome it is still a step forward. I'll post videos for everyone to critique next week. Not too long ago I was told that competing again would be completely out of the question. Thank you to everyone who helped me prove them wrong, especially my Detroit students, everyone at HQ for being so welcoming and encouraging & pushing me during all of my visits, my friends in Vista for the great techniques that have seamlessly fallen into my game, and especially Eddie for welcoming me into the 10th Planet family and always keeping an eye open for medical research and advancements that have led to my recovery.
