Depends 'what else' they have to do while in there but typically its a 6-8 week recovery. Most of the guys I know who got it were back on the mats drilling in a few weeks. Thing was it was about 6-12 months till they were 100 percent. I tore my meniscus back in April an its finally starting to feel normal again. If you play rubber with that leg your gonna have to shut it down for a while.
I have low grade miniscus tears in both knees and I can still play rubber guard so It is probably something much worse or really nasty tears. What did the MRI show?
Knee bar immunity! Think about it, someone reaps the knee, you flip that cap to the back, go all ostrich knee on a bitch! You're gonna be ok brotha. I got a good feeling about it.
My medial meniscus is also torn and I'm going in for arthroscopic surgery in a few weeks. The surgeon, who is also the Atlanta Falcons current doctor, told me that I would be fine in about a month. I think it just depends on how bad it is.
Damn, sorry to hear about that man.
Brandon!! Sorry to hear about that coach! Me and my girl will be praying for you! Hope you have a speedy recovery my man! I'm going to call you tomorrow while I'm at work to catch up for a bit. Hope to see you soon brother.
i have a couple fighters in my gym that have torn the meniscus. depending on how things go its like 4-6 weeks till you feel ok, some people heal quicker than that even. :)
I hope that its a quick one but from what they told me its looking like 6-9 months. Just depends on if they can save and repair it or remove it. The removal is a quick heal, the repair is months. I am bout to head down to Miami for my appt with the ortho surgeons and find out the details.
It depends if they aim to repair the meniscus or they shave/remove part of it. Removing it is actually a quicker healing process like you say back drilling in a couple of weeks. Repair is a longer process and will take more time to heal. Down side to the removal is increased chance of de-generation in the future. I've got two bucket handle tears in my lateral meniscus but I am expecting a quick return.
One of the peeps told me that the entire meniscus is displaced so I don't know if that means both lateral and medial or just one complete side. Find out soon tho. Freaking leg is swelled all the way to my foot lol
Ok it's a bucket handle tear with half of it jammed into the center of the knee. Surgery will be jan 22nd. They plan to repair it if possible. It's gonna be more intensive than just a scope damn it. At least it's gonna get fixed tho:cool:
was it too many visits from coach Zog that did that knee in??
Good luck buddy. pullin for ya.
Good luck man....lots of love from Rochester and I promise not to heel hook next time we roll!
One thing I would advise (based on my experience) is to not rush back too quick. I did my knee (acl/lateral ligament tears and dislocation) when I was 17 playing basketball. Being young and dumb I went back to basketball way earlier than I was advised. Long story short I re-injured the knee 6 times in the next 2 years. The only thing that ended up fixing it was having further surgery and then listening to the doctors & physio and taking the right amount of time off. It's been almost 9 years since my last surgery and (touch wood) I have not had any issues since.
You'll be back stronger than ever in no time! Time to study MTS like an Asian freshman in college for a couple months :)
